    Upon leaving Hay this morning there wasn’t a lot of people around, probably because it’s a small town 🤣 but we also got the tumble weed across the road 😳

    Today saw us land in Griffith. A very horticultural town surrounded by orchards and vines and I am talking about lots & lots & lots of them. We had a wander through the Main Street and checked Mural Lane.Read more

    After wandering down Banna Lane checking out the Murals we went to Centenary Park to check out the sculptures built by overseas artists for Griffiths 100 year celebration in 2016.

    Also checked out the Navy Plane and MIA Pioneers memorial.Read more

  • Catania Fruit Salad Farm

    This afternoon saw us head out into the farmland and Catania Fruit Salad Farm where we got to tour the farm and here about the first settlers in the area. We heard how it was set up as an irrigation area and horticultural area. We learnt that this farm 43 of the original 50. We got to travel in luxury on the farm bus to see the different fruits that they grown and sample some of the wares.

    Obi 🐶 was excited to be there and was enthralled.

  • Coolamon Fire Museum

    Today was a short day not far to travel. Stopped and had lunch in Coolamon. They have this great fire station museum with all fire stuff from Australia and around the world. Frank was in his element.

    Then on to Wagga Wagga. A town they named twice 🙄😝

    Upon leaving Wagga Wagga we set out “On the road to Gundagai” 😝 I dare you to sing it - I do every time I want to say it 🤣.

    The trip to Cowra showcased the canola fields and the beautiful contrast of the green and yellow.

    Out on the town tonight with dinner at the Imperial Hotel Cowra.

  • Cowra Breakout

    Cowra is home to the infamous POW breakout during WWII in August 1944.

    Cowra was home to a POW camp that housed Japanese and Italian soldiers, as well as some Indonesian civilians.

    The campsite remains are still visible and memorials are dotted around Cowra.Read more

    We ticked another off the bucket list and paid a visit to The Dish 🤣🤣. Yes The Dish as in the film with Sam Neill and of the historical fame for being the satellite that was used to transmit photos from the moon in 1969 😳.Read more

    So here we are at Bogan Weir for the night. No sooner had I opened the van windows when a couple of the locals left the area at speed kicking up the dirt 🙄😩. Other than that serenity now 😊

    Arrived in Dubbo after a short drive from Bogan Weir.

    Set up the van then went for a walk around town and the Dubbo Gaol situated on the Main Street of downtown Dubbo.

    Today we drove just outside of Narrabri to the Mount Kaputar National Park and meandered along to Sawn Rocks. Otherwise known as an organ pipe rock formation. Amazing

    Today on the road we travelled through Gunnedah where we stopped at the bakery. I felt like a donut 🍩. We’ll have to say not a good bakery we ended up with stale donuts although it said baked fresh every day 😔.

  • Big Golden Guitar & more

    This morning thought we would check out the farmers market for the fresh produce and whatever else they had for sale. Well not 1 fresh produce stall 😳🙄 and about a dozen stalls of a mish mash of stuff. So we grabbbed a coffee and went for a walk through town.

    Headed of to the Big Golden Guitar for the obligatory photo shoot 😝 and then onto Oxley Lookout.

    Later Frank spent some time fixing the water pressure valve release thingy 🤔

    After a nature walk we had ourselves a city walk where we took in some historical buildings. These included The Percy Hotel, Caledonian Hotel, Mechanics Institute, EW Bank. Finishing up with the Bi-Centennial Singleton Sundial. This is supposedly the largest sundial in the southern hemisphere 🤔Read more

  • Hunter Valley Wines

    Today saw us visit the Hunter Valley Wine Region to try a few wines.

    First up was De Iluliis Wines for a grape to glass experience looking at some behind the scenes wine stuff followed by cheese and wine tasting. 🤗. Delicious

    Next on the map was Tintilla Estate Wines for a lazy few samples and a tasting plate of condiments and grapes.

    Last was IronBark Brewhouse where Frank tasted the local stout.

    Today saw us drive a bit further than we have been lately. We traversed the countryside going up and down mountains, around and around lots of bends. But the countryside was worth it, lush and green. All this on our way to Orange via Bathurst.Read more
