  • Bemm River Caravan Park

    October 11, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Travelled through the Snowy Mountains, took a short cut through the ACT. Then we entered Victoria. Just shy of Cann River (lunch stop) we heard on the UHF radio there was a truck vs caravan just outside of town. It so happens that it was on the way out of town that we were headed in. 😳😖. So, we had a 2 hour stopover in Cann River.

Today's camp is at Bemm River Caravan Park, overlooking the river and a stone throw to the ocean.

So rather than free camp and have no power left as there is no sun we thought we would grab a spot at the Paynesville Holiday Park. The heater went on and there we stayed. 🌧️🌧️Read more

  • Lorne - Great Ocean Road

    October 20, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We left Torquay and began our Great Ocean Road adventure. Have to say was disappointed in the signage that told us we were on the Great Ocean Road. For such a ‘famous’ road it has a very unspectacular start. Once you have driven about 20km you get the arch, but you've already been on the road for a while. All that aside, so far has been a spectacular drive and we only did 48km to Lorne.

Along the way we stop at the chocolate factory and a few vantage points along the way for some photo stops. More of the GOR to come over the next few days.

This morning saw us continue on our Great Ocean Road trip. It is amazing, the scenery is spectacular and the road twists and turns along the way.

Our home is right on the ocean - sea view from dining window and a 50m walk to the beach itself.

Returned in the evening where Frank did some beer tasting and then it was dinner at the Brewery. Yummy crispy pork belly with pumpkin purée asparagus and apple salad 🙃

After being woken up at just after 2am this morning by an earthquake, we head towards our next stop at Princetown with really shitty weather.

It was wet and windy and the beanies and warm gear came back out 🙄

A drive over a pontoon bridge took us to our campsite. Then a visit to the 12 Apostles and Gibsons Steps. I’m surprised we weren’t blown off the cliff it was that bloody windy. I can now tick the boxes and have done them.
