    Amsterdam

    4 de marzo, Países Bajos ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

We got about 45min of sleep before our flight so by the time we arrived in Amsterdam we were seriously feeling the fatigue. There was about 3 hours to wait before we could check in to the hostel so we spent the afternoon roaming around the redlight district and the canals. The buildings in Amsterdam are stunning and the canals are lined with trees and criss crossed with small arched bridges which made walking around feel very calm and cosy. I was slightly surprised to find that some of the areas close to the red light district have a bit of a bali feel, I knew there would be weed shops and brothels everywhere but I guess I was expecting the advertising for them to be a little more tasteful than it was. For the first night we went to a dj event hosted by a label called ilian tape. The music was like cinematic, industrial, minimalist type dub/garage and it was the coolest set I've ever seen, like it was kinda blowing our minds. It sounds pretty ridiculous to say but it kinda felt like we were watching an art show as opposed partying in a club. The following day we woke quite late and went to vondelpark for a look around. Everywhere in Amsterdam is mega crowded and vondelpark was no exception. It was pretty nice walking through all the nice grassy areas and lakes but unfortunately all the trees in the park are deciduous, so none of them had any leaves which detracted from the parks lushness a fair bit. We had an early night that night and then the next morning we checked out of the hostel and went to the moco museum. Moco is a pop art gallery and has stuff from Banksy, andy warhol, basquiat and takashi mirakami that we were pretty keen to see. I liked the Banksy stuff the most out of those guys but there were a bunch of animated videos by an artist called Six n Five which were my favourites. Our bus to paris was at 1150pm so we spent the rest of the day roaming around and stopping to have beers in various places while we slowly made our way to the bus station. Amsterdam was nice but it's too crowded and the Bali vibes kinda killed it, the canals and the fact that everyone rides bikes instead of driving is cool though.Leer más
