  • ZEUDI: second dive

    8 août 2022, Indonésie ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

My turn, the last one... Jeff left me roam on my own, and I enjoyed myself looking at all the weirds corals, I found a minuscule anemone in a weird poisonous coral and on the side there was a very rare shrimp... This kind of experience is not possible with snorkeling, you need time hanging in front of the corals to find their innermost secrets. Here there weren't sharks or many turtles, but focussing on the secrets of the corals gave me even more emotions!En savoir plus

  • Buddhist temples in Jakarta

    11 août 2022, Indonésie ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

The first pictures are of the second oldest Buddhist temple in Jakarta, build around year 1650AD. Then we walked around the small streets of that block and small temples were everywhere!!! People were very devote, turning on incences, offering us water, and explaining us their uses. For example, as you see in the second video, they would pack things in some boxes and then burn them in the back of a metallic truck as an offer to the death loved ones.En savoir plus

  • China town market in Jakarta

    11 août 2022, Indonésie ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

After the temples, just 10 minute walk to the China town market. Here, all kind of handcrafted things were sold, and we bought some small things that will remind us of it. We then took the most colourful tuk-tuk to Batavia Marina, our to go place for a very tasty chicken saté!En savoir plus

  • Last morning in Jakarta

    12 août 2022, Indonésie ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

In front of our hotel the street was full of life (and traffic as you saw in a previous footage). Full of typical food served in the heat of the day... The weirdest thing was rice cooked/smoked into bamboo tubes... This is in the first video.
In the second video, can you see that street hero trying to cross that chaotic street with that HUGE cart? Can you spot him since the first seconds? What a courage 😱😱😱

  • Dubai pit-stop: Burj Khalifa

    13 août 2022, Emirats Arabes Unis ⋅ ⛅ 37 °C

We arrived at what for us was 2:00am in Dubai from Jakarta. But here in Dubai it was only 23:00pm. Time to get to the hotel, where we got upgraded to a two room suite which looked like an apartment, at the 43rd floor, and to get some cash around for the deposit, and we went to bed pretty late. On our way to the ATM for the cash, the moon was shining between two tall buildings on the other side of the street. You can see on the third picture the Burj Khalifa as seen from our room (yes the room had view on the Burj Khalifa!), and then as seen from inside a mall at the foot of the tower .. Before going to the airport, we decided to go up to the 125th floor and "enjoy" the view. Well... It was very high, there is no doubt about it, looking down was a thrill. But that's all about it... Outside there wasn't anyone on the streets, it seemed like a ghost city. The atmosphere was grey/brown and visibility very low in the distance.
Something that I found pretty sad was that from the hotel to the tower we completely walked in indoor halls. Not a step outside. Maybe ten steps from the hotel revolving doors to the metro station revolving doors. It felt like being in a gigantic airport. I understand that the heat doesn't really allow you to walk outside a lot, but we watched the city from the inside of these long alleys, through the windows, or through pictures and screens hanging on the walls. For what I am concerned, the money payed to go up for the view were not worth it.
First video is a GoPro footage of the view all along the glass of the 125th floor. I tried to get it above all the tourists intent to take selfies . The second video shows a bit how high we were there... Scrolling along the tower that was in the previous picture

  • Home...

    14 août 2022, Pays-Bas ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

    Home...
The driving back was perilous. Few hours sleep only in Dubai, then long flight. We arrived at home at what for our inner clock was 5am... Or even worse counting the Indonesian time zone.
We needed to stop on the way twice to charge the car (parking company didn't do it's job..). The second stop was strategical, to have a vital 20min nap. Both Thomas and I couldn't keep our eyes open. But we are here... Kiwi was super happy and confused to see us again... And now we sleep!
    Goodnight world
