Kakum National Park

About a 45 minute drive from Oasis Beach Resort. Although the park opens at 7am there's not much you can do until 9am when guided tours begin. 1 Hr Hiking Tour is 50GHS or Canopy Tour 60GHS.
Killing Time..

Enjoying the sound of nature and falling leaves that one or two make it inside the car. Park workers and vendors gradually show up to get things rolling at 9am.
A Workout...

That I was not to well prepared for after playing basketball the evening before. Hike starts out with a relatively steep climb but the guide is kind enough to talk only at the flat spots.

Of the rainforest, the floor which only receives on average 3% of sunlight.

Area where trees are trying to reach sunlight. The understory.. details at 11.

The canopy where many of the animals spend there entire life particularly various species of monkeys.
Ebony Without Ivory

But still living in perfect harmony. The ebony tree was once use to make piano keys. It's so strong elephants use it as a back scratcher.

Towering over the canopy if this mahogany can grow over 200 feet tall it will be in the Emergent Layer.
The Biggest Of Them All

Where you can camp for night hiking trips. Most of the animals are nocturnal so don't expect to spot any of them during the day except birds, butterflies and The Beatles.
