    Ladies Market

    July 15, 2016 in Hong Kong ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Today we will change hostels so after packing and checking out we take the tube to our new destination in Kowloon. We have to wait till 2 to check in so after leaving our bags in reception we leave the hostel and head out into the bustling street below and too a little cafe in fbkmuthe street. It's comical because the menu is all in Chinese and the only form of cutlery is chopsticks. After a lot of pointing we order and end up with noodles and dim sum and try our best with the given eating implements. After spending a good hour eating our dinner we mosey back to the hostel to check in. Mark heads up to the room first and when he comes back down all he keeps saying is "your not going to be happy"When I get to the room it has to be the smallest squat I've ever stayed in Mark and I can't even stand up at the same time. The room we were in before was small but this is taking it to a new level. When I look at the bathroom there is literally a shower head over the toilet, an we have a problem as Mark has already paid for 5 nights. We grin and bear it and head out to the local "ladies market" a market full of all sorts from knock off handbags to cuddly toys. Only 5 minutes in and we were hit on by a woman working for the local massage parlour and Mark enquirer about getting his feet done. The woman escorted him away and left me to do some shopping. We met an hour later and had a wander around the technology centre which absolutely blew us away. The technology here is light years ahead of home and half the price, but we just window shopped and decided to wait until we get further in. The shopping had made us hungry so on route back to the hostel we opted for a restaurant just opposite which was popular with the locals. Once again using our chopstick skills we polished off dinner and headed home for bed. When I laid down on the mattress it was like sleeping on a floor so as its so late now we will be heading down in the morning to ask for a change of room.Read more
