Day 1 - Harpers Ferry to Crampton Gap

Our first day on the trail had several variations— super flat on the C&O bike trail then uphill to cliffs; both sunny and blue skies and thunder and lightening. Luckily we were at the luxury Ed Garvey shelter, eating delicious sandwiches, when the rains first started. It was a long, tiring day but we did well, met some nice folks, saw some beautiful wildflowers, learned some Civil War facts, and ate great food. Time for rest now in our tents.Read more
