Day 55: More wandering & Mainz

A few more fun things in Heidelberg and then back we went to Mainz. It took two trains due to the time we left the old town.

More was seen in the gardens of the castle such as the Große Grotte, fountain with a character with big head little body, and lizard door knob.

We decided to take the stairs down to see more - so off we went with me showing Benjola how to go sideways and grapevine so her knees stay young. Other tourists were amused.

The university library was our next stop as Benjola loves the architecture. Sadly under renovation for good pictures. They added a larger reading room to the inside and it was packed. Nice art deco decorations.

A little shopping for a few things and then trains to Mainz. When we hit Mainz, we had a small bite to eat at a place that has French fries as the base to everything. I had chicken with my fries and cheese. Yummy

Missed our bus so we took a tram and then had to walk back to her apartment. But she showed me the garden near her place. The community gardens are so nice as they each have large gardening shed and use the space as their outdoor living areas.
