Originally released as a rough version on 1992's Cruel Sun, it was re-mixed in 1994 for their second album, When I Woke, and released as the lead single. Root's frontman, Michael Glabicki, wrote the lyrics, and its other members – Liz Berlin, John Buynak, Jim Dispirito, Jim Donovan, Patrick Norman and Jennifer Wertz – contributed to the track. It peaked at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100.

ПутешественникThe Fanno Creek Trail meanders for nearly 10 miles through the cities of Tigard and Beaverton, west of Portland, largely following Fanno Creek. Overall, it’s well-shaded, with dozens of neighborhood entry points and ample opportunities to leave the trail for a restaurant and additional sightseeing. With its parklike settings and wetlands, the trail is a nature lover’s destination for birding and wildlife viewing. About the Route The southern end of the Tigard, on Southwest Fanno Creek Drive, just north of Southwest Bonita Road. (As there’s no parking here, trail users can also begin their journey 0.5 miles north at the Tigard Public Library, which has a large parking lot.) There are a few sharp turns and some short steep hills as the narrow trail winds its way to the library. To the left is the Colony Creek subdivision; to the right, is the lush greenery along Fanno Creek. Throughout Tigard, the trail runs through a system of parks, natural areas, and greenways. Heading north from the library, the trail enters Fanno Creek Park, where there is parking, drinking fountains, restrooms, and wildlife viewing. There’s a well-marked road crossing at Southwest Main Street, which comes just 1 mile after the library; then the trail continues under Pacific Highway/OR 99 W and reaches Southwest Grant Avenue in 1 block. This starts a 0.3-mile on-road section that follows Southwest Grant Avenue west, then turns north onto Southwest Johnson Street to reach Woodard Park. The park offers vault toilets, drinking water, playground equipment, and a covered picnic shelter. After crossing Southwest Tiedman Road, the Fanno Creek Trail continues into Dirksen Nature Park with its sports fields, wildlife viewing areas, restrooms, drinking water, picnic shelters, and playgrounds. There’s a large parking lot west of the trail just before it crosses Southwest Tigard Street and dips into a more heavily wooded area.

ПутешественникThe city of Portland, Oregon, contains many bridges over various geographical features and roads of varying lengths and usages. Some bridges carry roads, some carry pedestrians only, some carry trains only, and others have various restrictions. Bridges over the Willamette River comprise a majority of the notable bridges in the city. Portland has 12 bridges that span the Willamette, while only two road bridges cross the Columbia River, and other notable bridges cross roads, canyons or other bodies of water. Interstate 5 crosses the Willamette via the Marquam Bridge and the Columbia via the Interstate Bridge. Due to the large number of bridges crossing the Willamette in the center of town, Portland's nicknames include "Bridge City" and "Bridgetown."

Nestled into a 1920’s-era commercial building on the west side of the bridge over Bertha Boulevard, the pub has the timeless charm and intimacy one might expect of a building that’s been serving hearty beer and food since the days when this part of Portland was mostly dirt roads and dairy farms. Though we’ve expanded into a larger production facility, the first Sasquatch brewing system still exists in the back corner of the brewpub, complete with a row of Italian wine fermenters retrofitted for beer, a homemade grain mill, and a dairy tank converted into a mash tun. These days it mostly makes small-batch or one-off seasonal beers and reminds us of our roots. We proudly serve a full brewpub menu to accompany our rotating taplist, and we’re happy to seat you inside or outside - and even order online for carry-out!

ПутешественникBanks-Vernonia State Trail is the first “rails-to-trails” park in Oregon. The trail follows an abandoned railroad bed that stretches 21 miles between the cities of Banks and Vernonia. The trail consists of a paved 8-foot wide hiking and bicycle trail alongside a gravel trail for horses that's about 4-foot wide in most sections. The gentle grade in all but one area allows hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and people of all abilities to enjoy the scenic mountains, fields and forests of Washington and Columbia counties. Trail highlights include 13 bridges and views from the 733-foot long, 80-foot high Buxton Trestle, open to hikers and bicyclists. A ground-level equestrian bypass crosses Mendenhall Creek. The south end of the trail begins in Banks, a town of 1,900 surrounded by agricultural operations. Heading north, the trail passes agricultural lands and riparian areas before reaching the thickly-forested foothills of the Coast Range and ending in Vernonia, a town of 2,200 surrounded by private timberland and small farms.

ПутешественникOver 100 years old and 80 feet tall, the Buxton Trestle is the unrivaled highlight of the 21-mile Banks-Vernonia Trail just west of Portland, Oregon. This former railroad trestle has found new life as a family-friendly trail perfect for year-round hiking and biking. If you aren’t looking for distance, you can access the trestle from a dedicated trailhead and make a short loop that passes over and around it. For a more active day, it can be a destination on a longer hike or bike ride.

The park is approximately 60 miles (100 km) long on its north–south axis and just 6 miles (10 km) wide on its east-west axis, on average. The park was established in 1971 to preserve 241,904 acres (377.98 sq mi; 97,895.08 ha; 978.95 km2) of desert landscape and is open all year, with May through September receiving the most visitors.

ПутешественникCapitol Reef National Park lies in Utah’s south-central desert, an oasis of colorful sandstone cliffs, impressive domes, and soaring monoliths. Once called “Wayne Wonderland,” the park got its name in part from the great white rock formations which resemble the U.S. Capitol building, and from the sheer cliffs that presented a barrier to early travelers. Early inhabitants referred to the area as the “land of the sleeping rainbow” because of its beautiful contrasts: multi-colored sandstone surrounded by verdant riverbanks and arid desert vegetation, all nestled beneath deep blue skies. The area was designated as a national monument in 1937 and reclassified as a national park in 1971.

ПутешественникGlen Canyon is a natural canyon carved by a 169.6-mile (272.9 km) length of the Colorado River, mostly in southeastern and south-central Utah, in the United States. Glen Canyon starts where Narrow Canyon ends, at the confluence of the Colorado River and the Dirty Devil River. A small part of the lower end of Glen Canyon extends into northern Arizona and terminates at Lee's Ferry, near the Vermilion Cliffs. Like the Grand Canyon farther downstream, Glen Canyon is part of the immense system of canyons carved by the Colorado River and its tributaries.

ПутешественникIn 1963, a reservoir, Lake Powell, was created by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam, in the Arizona portion of Glen Canyon near the brand new town of Page, inundating much of Glen Canyon under water hundreds of feet in depth. Contrary to popular belief, Lake Powell was not the result of negotiations over the controversial damming of the Green River within Dinosaur National Monument at Echo Park; the Echo Park Dam proposal was abandoned due to nationwide citizen pressure on Congress to do so.  The Glen Canyon Dam remains a central issue for modern environmentalist movements. Beginning in the late 1990s, the Sierra Club and other organizations renewed the call to dismantle the dam and drain Lake Powell in Lower Glen Canyon. Today, Glen Canyon and Lake Powell are managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
