Heading out

Here's the Google My Map I made when planning. It shows most of the places we are going (and a few we are not):

Pre-flight beer

And Rihanna! She's Irish, right?
We"re in Maria's room

All the rooms in this hotel are named after famous Irish writers. We passed Wilde and Yeats and Joyce but we are in Edgeworth.
The bathroom is quite quaint.
First meal in Dublin

We opted for the traditional Irish food: tapas. Very tasty. We did pair it with local beers.
Finally tried Guinness

This may be heresy, but all I can say is "meh".
The "full Irish"

This is one of the things I have been most looking forward to on this trip. Even though we are pretty jet lagged we managed to make a fair dent.
Now we are off for our bike tour of Dublin.
St Patrick's Cathedral

This is where Jonathan Swift was dean and Handel wrote The Messiah. Or at least that's what our guide said.
When in Ireland . ..

Why, yes, we ARE drinking our way through Dublin. What makes you ask?
OK, we are also eating our way through

Note all the veggies. It's healthy!
Another night, another tapas dinner

We are planning on eating more traditional Irish food going forward, so we want to experience other options while we have the chance.
We biked across Dublin using the city share bikes. We areЧитать далее
Not quite full Irish

R was up and off early to work. I slept in and am having a groggy, late, (slightly) lighter, solo breakfast.
Sightseeing along the river Liffey

Off to visit an exhibit on the potato famine. Should be a barrel of fun!
Quite a contrast

Exhibit about starving, disease ridden peasants on the top floor of a fancy shopping center.
(St.) Stephen('s Green) is for the birds

Lots and lots of birds.
Made it just in time

Had my first solid night sleep. Nonetheless still groggy. Tried the traditional Irish oatmeal breakfast. Pretty much like you would expect.
Then I grabbed a bike and zoomed down to the river to tourЧитать далее
Famine memorial

Looking at this stuff makes me so glad my ancestors made it out.
A Light(?) Lunch

I hope I'm hungry for dinner.
Seems like home!

EV charging station

First one I have seen
Irish whiskey is making a revival

No more tapas

Last breakfast in this hotel

Tomorrow morning we hit the road with no breakfast
Very windy today

A windstorm came in last night and this was the sight that greeted me when I left the hotel this morning
On the way to Howth

Going to visit a quaint fishing village that is situated on a promontory point while we are experiencing a windstorm may not be my brightest idea. We shall see.
