    Touch Footy

    What an effort from the Ourimbah Boys Touch Footy team.

    They made it into the Sydney North Quarter Finals. They won the first game 6-1, but unfortunately lost the second game 5-2.

    Great effort by all and they were rewarded with some nice hot pizza after playing in the rain.

    Rainy Weekends 🌧️

    Quick walk between rain showers, still got a bit wet though 😂
    Picked up the new leather couch, or new to us, it’s only about 10 years old but we got it for a bargain $650, real leather and even has an electric recliner…….. luxury! Just need to to keep Jett of it, I can tell he really wants to try it out
    Plus desert we had approximately a month ago at Avoca Beach House after enjoying their locals cheap night    Les mer

    Knee Recovery Project

    I bought a Husky FE350 from a friend. It is definitely a bit of a doer upper but it is registered, has electric start and a kick stand, some things I’ve always wanted and will be much easier on the recovering knee.
    This project has kept me busy in the shed, doing little bits at a time and buying many cheap parts online during my recovery.
    Below is a list of the many little jobs and parts replaced that I can remember

    Jobs…..
    Re installed kick stand
    Re aligned front forks
    Set all shock dampeners to standard
    Adjusted shock sag correctly
    Re-wired and replaced all indicators with LEDs
    Fixed front light
    Re-installed brake light switch
    Bled all brakes
    Superglued stickers on
    Superglued gear shifter out
    Changed oil and filter

    New Replacement Parts Installed……
    Handlebars
    Grips
    Bark buster mounts
    Indicator and light switch
    Headlight globes
    Front wheel bearings
    Rear wheel bearings
    Rear brake pads
    Chain tensioner bolts
    Chain guide wear block
    Chain and Sprockets
    Clutch perch mount
    Front shock adjusters

    2nd in high jump

    Faceting

    Another hobby! This one I have been waiting to learn for a while now and I am finally doing it!

    Faceting, cutting gemstones 💎.

    This one is my first ‘learning stone’ and it is a quarts. It is being cut to the pattern ‘Like a flower’.

    After weeks and weeks of attending classes, it is finally finished, now I am addicted and can not wait to cut more 😍    Les mer

    Girls just wanna have fun 💝

    A long over due weekend away with the girls.

    Tara booked a cute little cottage in the Hunter, over looking a vineyard and a paddock of kangaroos.

    We ate, laughed, ate, drank and ate some more.

    To make it a little bit interesting we had a little colour theme. Each person selected a colour and we had to bring a cocktail, food platter and something to wear in our colour. The girls were very impressed with the coloured wigs I got us all 🤣.

    We had lunch at Harrigan’s, lunch at Sabor the dessert bar, dinner at Baume and breakfast at Oakvale winery. In between we ate platters of food and made some very delicious cocktails.

    Boys Trip

    No mum this weekend and we all survived.
    We even got a surf in and some sushi Friday morning before we left and I really enjoyed being back in the ocean, even if it was on a boogie board.
    Only one hospital trip for a concussion and a fractured wrist, and neither were my boys so happy days. Plenty of beers were drunk and we had one hell of a fire roaring all night. Boys and bikes…… Yew!Les mer

    A day with Sophie

    Mel and Joel were off for a day date, so Sophie and I were going to hang out for the day.

    The day started out with Sophie’s lack of confidence in my ability to push the pram , with her yelling “put on my seatbelt !” 😂.

    We hit up the park, but this didn’t seem to be Sophie’s thing, so I asked her what she wanted to do and she stated “ I just want a baby chino and chips”. How can I refuse?, so we wondered over the shops where we bumped in to Kat and Byron.

    I still have the knack and got Sophie to sleep in the pram, the old sun in the face trick still works like a charm.

    Then we made some cupcakes and decorated them with the lollies Sophie picked at the shops. They were delicious 🤤.    Les mer

    Father’s Day, the calm before the storm

    Brett and Lachie had their last Father’s Day breakfast at school together 😢.

    On Sunday, we celebrated by having croissants down the beach. It was a lovely morning. The favourite snack of course was the large Lolly box Byron and Lyla insisted Shaun would like for Father’s Day. It wasn’t just Shaun who enjoyed these treats.

    The Storm! Lachies Accident

    Lachies Lows….. But Also He’s High’s 😂

    Lachlan was on his scooter and collided with an adult on a BMX bike near the skate park, Lachlan came off second best.

    After some frantic phone calls and panicking, Mum and the ambulance arrived and everything started to calm down. The cut was massive! Down to the bone and about 5 inches long. All the boys did really well to help him and send for help.

    However, this is where it became very funny. Lachlan discovered the green whistle, he was off with the fairies and it was hilarious, I think mum was crying it was soo funny.

    Once at hospital, It was an overnight stay in emergency waiting for an orthopaedic surgeon because it was too complex for the regular surgeon to stitch up. After a long night….. mainly for mum sitting next to him all night, they got into a bed and then surgery the next afternoon where he was patched up with no major complications.

    Wow! This is one we’ll all remember, and Lachlan is going to have a great scar to remind him if he ever forgets.    Les mer

    Silversmithing Course

    I have started to learn a new hobby, unfortunately the lesson is only once a month, so a long time to wait to finish a project.

    My first project was a bit adventurous, so I have put it on hold and started a new one! Staker rings.

    This project was much more ‘my level’ - first timer 🤣.

    I had a lot of fun, I made a twist ring, plain band and learnt to texturize on my third.    Les mer

    Another weekend another emergency

    Being a boy mum is hard, I always thought boys were easier than girls, but after the last two weekends I am rethinking that!

    I thought I might catch up on some of the sleep I missed last weekend, but the kids had other ideas for me.

    9pm Lachie - “mum we heard gun shots”!
    Nope that was just fire works.

    10.30pm Lachie screaming - “mum, mum,mum the back yard is on fire!” And yes it was.

    I grabbed the hose, which was not connected to the tap and the connection was out on the front tap, I stared to use the dog bowl to try and put the fire out, while Brax and the other kids grabbed buckets from anywhere they could.

    After what felt like forever the fire was out !

    One of the kids got a small burn on his hand ( he tried to use his hand to put out the fire!).

    So it turns out, after I checked the fire and went to bed, Brax and Anders came back out to sit by the fire, which had mostly gone out! They poured some petrol on the wood, like shown by Brett and put it into the fire to get it going. What they didn’t think about was the fact they poured the petrol onto the wood next to the fire leaving fuel on the concrete. An ember fell to the ground setting the fuel on fire. The fuel container was still on the floor, so it went up too, taking a few patio chairs and the wood bucket with it!

    Oh and the dog thought it would be a good time for a midnight stroll! He snuck out when Brax opened the gate to get the hose.

    I was very worried about the burn, so Gary with his fireman experience came over and checked it out for me. Luckily it was only minor, no broken skin or even blisters, just a bit red and sore.

    After winding down, I finally hit the hay at 1.30pm, to be woken up at 4.30am by the kids alarm, which they had set to wake up for an online challenge game 🙄. Thanks kids!

    I wonder what next weekend will have install for us 🤔, I mean we haven’t had the police yet 😬!    Les mer

    V8 Drive

    Had the opportunity through work to do a V8 drive at Eastern Creek. I was so excited to be back in a V8, I just love everything about them. I had a young guy as my instructor which I thought would be good but I think he wanted to drive cause he kept pressing the brakes making it very hard to get a feel for the car and even harder to get any rhythm. At one point I stopped braking for and said to him there’s no point both of us braking, which got him to back off braking a little bit. All in all it was very enjoyable and my favourite corner is turn one, it is a high speed corner where you approach at over 200kph and only lift the throttle, turn it in late and back on the gas. You can feel the car body creeking under all the different forces, it is incredible.Les mer

    Boating Bliss 😎

    Not a bad way to spend a beautiful Sunday. Took the dog for a walk up North Entrance and found a big washed up mako shark. Then took the boat out with the boys and explored Pelican Island before heading up budgewoi for some fish n chips. Yum yum yum!Les mer
