• Day 9: Trish Exits - M&M Join

    April 16 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

Trish, Manisha and I left early in the morning around 5 am to drop Trisha at the airport which is an hour away for a 7:35am flight. After a few stops to enjoy breakfast in Brindisi and buy perishables from the supermarket, we returned to the Airbnb. We also made a quick stop in a farmers market that we happened to be passing and finally found green chillies.
After a couple of beers and 20 winks of sleep for Theo and me, we headed out again to a very nice wine and food tasting place close by., called Cantine Amalberga. Sahil and I discovered a good red wine called Negromaro and Primitivo, made from the grapes available only from this region. These are full bodied and have spice flavor.
After lunch, we headed to an olive oil tasting at Il Frantolio where we were introduced to 5 different olive oils with uses. A couple were meant only for as salad dressings. Sahil and Grace gifted us a set of three which we are excited to share.
Meanwhile, friends of Sahil and Grace, Michael and Mason, landed in Brindisi and drove up to join us for the next few days before we head back home. After a Peroni and tasting a no label Montepucuiano,
we headed to dinner at Risto Grappolo in the town Cisternino. Place had its own parking, and looked very decent. It was Italian fare. Most of the main courses were salty. Overall, good experience and seemed very reasonable for 6 adults.
We got back home at a decent time and indulged in a night cap opening the Primitivo, red wine. Given jet lag, and early morning airport drop off, we called it a night,
Theo, once again was a trooper and hung in there the whole day.
