see that volcano? that’s the other side of the view from my hotel. also, it took three hours of driving to get to that point. after this, I shaved a half hour off my return trip by taking the car ferry (not pictured). pro tip: actually look up the ferry schedule on Navitime if you want to make sure you return your rental car before Budget closes, because Apple Maps seems to just make one up. (it was fine, I just paid to park the car in a way too expensive lot next to the Sheraton and returned the car in the morning before catching the train to Kumamoto.)Read more
