Bohol, Tarsier Monkey's & Chocolate Hill

    March 11 on the Philippines ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Sleep in today, 7am pick up for the 2 hour ferry trip across to Bohol, 4th largest Island! Tour to Blood Compact Monument, honours treaty with early Spanish explorers in 1565. You can see the Spanish architectural influence and they brought religion to the Philippines, 80% Catholics today, 19% Christian. So there's many old churches made of coral, limestone and all cemented together with old day cement, egg whites!!!! Did a river cruise for lunch, where I survived the stick dance with the locals, good laugh for everyone! Only other person pulled up on stage was some well known Philippino celebrity who everyone on-board was getting photos with. We then drove through the mahogany forest to visit the tiny Tarsier Monkey's, small enough to fit in your hand, too cute. Last for the day were the Chocolate Hills, uncovered after millions of years to form Bohols unique countryside today. Stopped in to visit one of the locals to learn about Bohols daily life and try coconut wine, only coconut thing I wouldn't try again, actually, along with milk from a rotten coconut! Late ferry trip home in the dark, ready for another day!Read more
