    Wagga Wagga wilks park

    First night away we stayed at the Wilkes Park called in at about 5 o’clock. Went to tea at the thirsty crow very nice beer and good food. Had a walk in the morning along the river

    Second night away huge drive today and weather was very wet Google took us down 100 km of dirt road that was just mud as soon as we got in to Cobar we went to the car wash and clean the car stayed free in the Cobar RSL .Read more

    Stayed at May‘s bend which is on the darling river about 20 km north of Burke had a good drive up from Cobar and the weather is starting fine up sunshine all day we had a lovely fire, with the wood we got on the roadside on the way up today, new electric chainsaw is a ripper.Read more

    Very short trip up from Blackall this morning beautiful spot the wetlands lots of birds and hot springs and plenty of room to camp around the lake more fires.

  • Longreach - Muddy Duck van park

    A short trip up from the Lara wetlands stopped at Barcaldine for lunch and cruised on into Longreach. We both went to the Stockman‘s Hall of Fame and spent probably four hours there then the next day I went to the Qantas Museum which was a little underwhelming. Next day went to the Longreach Powerhouse Museum this was quite interesting with all the original equipment mostly in place. this is where we first heard about the rats and the rat plague with the rats doing damage to cars wiring LoomsRead more

  • Winton - Tattersalls hotel caravan park

    Spent two nights in Winton went to the age of dinosaurs exhibition at Winton where we saw how they prepare and preserve all of fossils. Then we went to see Oh on the little train the footprints of the dinosaurs that had been fossilised and walk down the walkway to see all the model dinosaurs on the rocks and in the bush. On the Sunday morning we got up and left early and went down to the last quarry where we are had a look at the dinosaur footprints in the old creek bed and I had a good walk around the walkway. We stopped on the way back from a quarry to get a bit more wood for the fires. Had dinner two nights at the Tattersalls pub very nice food lovely sitting out in the street watching the sun go down. The third night we had dinner at the Australia hotel and the lady had a demonstration of smooth coated Border collies herding sheep.Read more
