  • Roma! Day 1

    June 24 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 35 °C

After a delayed flight and total chaos at FCO to get through customs, we finally made it to Aurelia Vatican Appartements to drop our suitcases and start exploring beautiful and very hot Rome!

We went up many many stairs to get a great view of the Vatican!
Thunder was rumbling in the distance but we stood in sunshine.

We stop for our first caprese and pasta ai 3 pomodori in a little cafe before heading to Vatican City.

After a short visit we tasted our first gelato of the trip! Very yummy!!!

We made our way to Castel Sant’Angelo before walking along the Tiber River on our way to Trastevere. The ambiance was so much fun in that part of the city!

Quick stop for a drink and crostini con pere, truffle miele y brie (delicious!!!!) before competing our 22 500+ steps half day!!!

Sleep did not take long to come!!!

    Ciao!!!

    June 25 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

This deserves a footprint of its own!!!

The Aventine Keyhole is a famous hidden gem at the Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta. Peeking through this tiny, unassuming keyhole on the priory door of the Knights of Malta reveals a perfectly aligned tunnel of manicured hedges that beautifully frames the dome of St. Peter's Basilica.Key

Highlights: The Secret View: The garden's trees align perfectly to frame the distant dome of St. Peter's, creating one of the most unique and highly photographed optical illusions in Rome.
See 3 Countries at Once: Because of the strict political borders, peering through the keyhole allows you to technically view three sovereign entities in a single glance: the property of the Knights of Malta, Italy, and the Vatican
