In the end, the rain stopped within an hour or so, but everything around us particularly the long grass we seemed to be walking through all the time was quite wet.

Pretty much three-quarters of today’s walking was in fields. Occasionally undulating but always slightly rough ground and probably what no one’s ankles need when taking on this sort of challenge.

We had a semi-planned stop in the village of Castle Eaton today, but just before we got there we had the pleasure of yet another field but this one had cows in it with pretty much the entire herd all gathered on the actual path so we had an extra detour through the centre of the field trying to avoid the not-so-little presents cows tend to leave behind them.

Our stop in the village would have been at the Red Lion pub were it to open on Tuesdays, but instead, we found a bench and made do with a drink of our own. The stop was much appreciated.
