Adelaide: Museums & Gardens

Returned to the Central Market to get food for the day. After, set off into the coolish morning heading for the South Australia Museum. A few interesting stops along the way. Good museum with anBaca lagi

Beautiful morning for a bike ride along the coast. Lovely bike path right by the ocean. Dark clouds building around us. They do eventually open up on us. Follow a series of city cycle ways leading usBaca lagi
Vineyard trail to Moana

Start our day with a pancake breakfast - out. Pretty good but spendy and small. Start our ride along the coast and quickly head up a steep hill. Nice views but tough climb. Pass a rather large ChineseBaca lagi
Normanville

Pack up and head up and through the Inman Valley. Finally have more trees! Lots of grazing animals and a few kangaroos. Stop for a pastry and opt to go to Normanville and the beach. Set up beforeBaca lagi
Exploring The Bluff

As we have lots of time to get to Adelaide, spend another day around Victor Harbor. Beautiful sunshine gives way to some clouds and drizzle but we continue down cycle path the the end - the bluff.Baca lagi
Victor Harbor

Opt to move to Victor Harbor as it seems better placed for exploring. Ride along the Encounter Cycleway - with the ocean on one side and lovely homes on the other. Arrive in VH and check in. Walk backBaca lagi
Goolwa

A longer bit more interesting day of riding. Much of the morning was flat nothing but we entered a wine region and then returned to the coast. The day was quite warm - a pleasant change. Stopped forBaca lagi
Wellington

Short day planned. Fart around a bit before getting on the road. Very clear and sunny day with minimal wind. Leave Lake Alexandria behind and surrounded by lots of nothingness. The vastness andBaca lagi
Meninge

Beautiful morning and the Roos are out to greet us. Take a short walk over the dunes to the beach. Sooooo long and deserted. Make our way back to the main road and with another tailwind continue ourBaca lagi
Fly along Coorong Peninsula

Still windy but they are going our way. Big day ahead of us so hit the road early. Zoom along to Kingston (through vineyards) and pick up a bit of food and water. Uncertain whether we will have accessBaca lagi
Stormy in Robe

Rain and wind continued all night long - as predicted. No desire to ride in it. After a bit rain stops and we head off on a walk about. Don’t get very far as it begins to rain again. Duck into aBaca lagi
Battling the wind

Depart early from Beachport, heading directly into a strong wind. Though it’s very flat, we crawl along. Spy a few interesting animals along the coastal flatlands. Finally arrive in Robe and opt toBaca lagi
Beachport

Relatively early start after a big breakfast. Day is sunny but windier than we expected. Roll along small hills as we leave Mountain Gambier and ride through many miles of sheep and cows. Do stop at aBaca lagi
Mount Gambier

A rainbow and very brief rain showers starts our day. Pack up anyway and ride down forest road full of wallabies and kangaroos. Once we emerge from the park, spot our first emus. They are very quickBaca lagi
Glenelg National Park

Depart from Portland, taking what we thought would be a quieter road. Unfortunately, if was a logging route and main thoroughfare for trucks in general. Do spot almost 10 koalas along the road,Baca lagi
Portland?!

Sunny and relatively calm day. Head off on very busy Princes Highway. Though we have ridden a lot of it since Sydney, it seems particularly busy with trucks. Do spot quite a number of koalas on ourBaca lagi
Griffiths Island & Port Fairy

Rest day. Head into town for very nice breakfast. Sun is out but wind is cool. Put more clothes on and wander over to the beach and Griffiths Island. Walk around it, spying many underground bird nestsBaca lagi
50 miles of cows

Morning oddly warm and there is a strong wind from the north. What should have been an easy, flat ride became challenging as we battled the wind. Scenery doesn’t help as it’s a lot of cows andBaca lagi
AWEsome coast line

Our Roo friends have joined us in the campground overnight. Takes a bit to dry everything (lots of condensation) but a bright sun helps. Short ride to first look out over the 12 Apostles. Make manyBaca lagi
DOWN to the coast

One of those rare days with more down than up planned. Wake up to a wet cloud hovering over us. Manage to dry off before setting out. Ride through the farm land until we hit Lavers Hill and the returnBaca lagi
UP to Beauchamp Falls

A very large hill awaits us as we bid farewell to the ocean and head inland, momentarily off the GOR. A steady climb of almost 10 miles and we are at 1800 ft - highest thus far in Australia. Turn onBaca lagi
Skenes Creek

Short day planned so no rush getting out. Allowed the sun to warm the air up. Head out along the GOR. The road is narrow and twisty and clings to the rocks. Fortunately, traffic is light. BeautifulBaca lagi
Bushwalk in Great Otway NP

After breakfast, walk up out of town to start of our bush walk in the Great Otway NP. Quickly the trees get tall as we leave the ocean behind. Very dry path. “Phantom Falls” isn’t even aBaca lagi

Day start’s annoyingly as someone had stolen my towel from the bathroom during the night. Pack up and head out into grey morning. Though we start on the busy GOR, veer off into the countryside. SpotBaca lagi
A walk along the coast

Set off on a hike along the coastal walk. Watching surfers riding very large waves. Though it is somewhat sunny, cool temperatures and strong wind make swimming impossible. Do manage to get toes inBaca lagi
