  • River valley

    20 de janeiro de 2024, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Bit of an up coming out of our campground. Make our way through a few towns and then ride along Rio Mataquito. Few north/south roads so have to go west to go south. Turn away from the Andes. Plan to wild camp and head toward river. Nice people invite us to go down their road to river. Lovely spot all to ourselves.Leia mais

  • Hola Chile

    15 de janeiro de 2024, Chile ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

A mere 15 hours and we are in Chile. Fly over the Andes. Gather our boxes and assemble ourselves in the airport. Not a terrible ride to our apartment. Get clean and go for a meander. Dinner of craft Chilean beers and a churrasco - Chile’s versions of a Philly cheesesteak.Leia mais

Successfully managed to pack everything into our 4 boxes. Fortunately our host had access to to a car big enough take us and our stuff to the airport. Long wait in line but easily checked everything in. Not quite enough time to head out so hung out in the airport for hours. Sadly very full plane so only one seat.Leia mais

  • Packing

    13 de janeiro de 2024, Espanha ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Day spent packing. Added adventure of needing new wheels for Doug’s bike as hub axles are broken. And of course it’s a Saturday, late in the day - this bike stores are closed. Decathlon comes through again. Additional packing boxes and materials are easily acquired. A last tapas dinner out.Leia mais

  • España

    7 de janeiro de 2024, Espanha ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

One last harrowing ride through Moroccan streets got us to our ferry. Just a quick one - and we are back on the European continent. Lovely ride along coast on newly created bike paths. With daylight fading - opt to stay in Barbate vs continue on to camp.Leia mais

  • Morocco: Cats and Chaos

    6 de janeiro de 2024, Marrocos ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

After an 8 hour bus ride, we find ourselves back where we started -Tangier. Our time in Morocco has been great - with some real highs and definite lows. It is a country that should be on bucket lists for the beauty, people, history and food. It has also been a good learning opportunity and an introduction to Africa and traveling in less developed countries. But I think Hannah’s tagline above best sums it up - Cats and Chaos.Leia mais

  • El Jadida

    5 de janeiro de 2024, Marrocos ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

A rather chill day for us. Late start and wandered into
Portuguese Cite for a late breakfast. Walked within 600 year old fortress and along the walls. Returned via the coastal route which would have been beautiful if not for the mountains of garbage - primarily plastic bottles 😞.Leia mais

  • Onto El Jadida

    4 de janeiro de 2024, Marrocos ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Our coastal road was neither coastal nor much of a road. Very chewed up and narrow. Opted to go off onto a smaller road. Though a bit under construction it wound us through farmland and amongst tiny villages. Lots of curious children. Continued to battle the wind as we finally came back to the coast and arrived in bustling (aka hectic) El Jadida. Nice big and cheap apartment. Out for good seafood.Leia mais

  • A day of contrasts

    3 de janeiro de 2024, Marrocos ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

As we were going to ride through Casablanca we knew it would be busy - which it certainly was. However, occasional bike paths helped. Lots of trucks heading into and out of the giant port. A beautiful and huge mosque graced the southern side of Casablanca. Lots of construction which sometime was done and other times left
the road a mess. Huge homes quickly changed to very simple country lifestyles. Made it to our apartment and after acquiring food, stayed in for the night.

  • South along the coast

    2 de janeiro de 2024, Marrocos ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Marvelous bike path along the water leads us out of Rabat. Pass by a vet different side of Morocco - a wealthier side. Seem the king also has a lovely palace/compound on the coast as well. A camel sighting and a gaggle of puppies break up the data’s riding. Walk along the promenade to a rather upscale town for dinner.Leia mais

  • Rabat

    31 de dezembro de 2023, Marrocos ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

In order to avoid what seemed to be bad roads and traffic, took the bus to Rabat. Quite easy - just rolled the bikes into luggage compartment. Toured around - visiting the Atlantic Ocean, the Kasbah and the mausoleum. Also found a clandestine liquor cave store. Quite bizarre. Nice fish dinner.Leia mais

  • Fes

    30 de dezembro de 2023, Marrocos ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Took the train to Fes. Bigger and more polished city than Meknes. Many beautiful gates and doors, though guards would not let us take photos. Other sights included the tanneries and ancient tombs.
