Albergue Parroquial San Juan Bautista

We stayed at a wonderful albergue last night. It's literally inside a church. The church is fairly big, and the albergue is upstairs in the back. You enter through a side door not the main church doors. Although there is a door that connects to the choir loft. Anywhere, it's technically completely free. It's run by volunteers who come here for a two week stint. We pilgrims are put to work by the volunteers. One pilgrim became the head chef. In one of the pictures you see Jill chopping vegetables for dinner. Others were given mops to clean up from the previous visitors. There is a donation box. The money pays for the groceries and other supplies. We slept on the floor in a large room on very comfy mats. Once I got ear plugs out, I was able to sleep through all the snoring. There was a pilgrim's Mass at 7:00 p.m. A dozen or so older local ladies attended, which I found rather impressive. The volunteers were very kind, and it was nice to spend time with other people doing the walk.En savoir plus
