    Swiss thoughts

    It feels like the Swiss are the next evolution of our hominid family.
    Family: hominid,
    Genus: homo,
    Species: swiss.
    They're generally decent, considerate, civil minded. There is no litter. None. Public places are clean. The lakes and rivers crystal clear. The people are not overweight. I saw one fat person. Many walk/hike/cycle on their days off rather than go to the mall. Shops are closed on Sundays and peace prevails. I imagine 'chaos' to be a terrifying concept. Order is key. Public transport runs on time and apps to plan journeys super efficient. The populace votes often on diverse issues and is educated before each vote on pros and cons. People don't work the system but contribute fairly.

    Pitch up on the Rhine

    Couple nights in campsite. Wee boatie trip an hour up the Rhine. It's a busy highway - huge barges, cruise ships, railways and roads on both sides. Very lovely but certainly not quiet

    Luxembourg

    Well, Luxembourg, you didn't show me your best. I suppose all days cannot be glorious. Pishing down all day, a forest walk in rain in Teufelschlucht Germany, cool, into Luxembourg for a couple of hours, then campsite in Belgium...ridiculously overpriced as apparently it's a holiday weekend.
    Just realised that was 3 countries in a day. No border checks. You would hardly know but for small signs

    In and out of Germany again, across the High Fens and down onto busy motorway. Diversion because of roadworks took tedious amount tine at end of day, but decent pitch up by River Meuse

    Memories. We lived in Overijse, Brussels, for a year. It was such an adventure for us all as a family. It was where Mum was so happy. We keep returning, albeit at ever greater intervals and fewer numbers. The house looks the same, the school many times bigger, Valerie's nursery still there, petrol station by the school bus stop where we collected 3d animal cards closed, Delhaize supermarket still going strong.Read more
