    Breakfast after a delayed flight

    We got a notification late last night that our flight was delayed. We were somewhat relieved as it meant we got a bit more sleep after a long day and a late night up with Uncle Andrew and Aunty Tracey.

  • Talofa Welcome to Samoa

    We safely landed in Samoa and we're instantly hit with the heat. But not before we were almost hit with duty free alcohol flying out of the overhead storage and smashing on the floor.....

  • Taumeasina Island Resort

    We were greeted with ulas (flower necklaces), mint towels and a welcome drink and shown to our room.
    Very fancy for us! We quickly got changed, had something to eat and drink and went for a swim.
    We then snorkeled as the sun was setting.
    We are in paradise!

  • Dinner at Taumeasina Restaurant and Bar

    After a short and sharp trivia night at the resort which we definitely did not win, we walked down the road slightly to a very low key little restaurant.

    We caught a taxi to the only place on the island that hires scooters. Luckily there was 1 left!
    We jumped on our trust steed Ed (named after Eds Sheeran cause it's ginger) and hit the road 🛵

    First stop Sauniatu Waterfall... a beautiful swimming spot that we had all to ourselves. So peaceful and deliciously warm

  • Piula Cave Pool

    Next stop another swim. We got slightly lost by shooting past the entrance but made it in the end. It's on the grounds of a Theology School and sits directly under the church. A nice fresh water dip. You used to be able to swim the whole way through but can only swim to a certain point now. Beautiful all the sameRead more

    This was a must see on every recommendation about Samoa. A very cool place to swim and explore. Worth the climb down for sure! And we were finally able to buy sunscreen... Every other place we tried laughed at us when we asked for it!Read more

  • Chilled Evening

  • Coffee Roasters Samoa

    We got up and as I sorted the bags Sam sorted a dodgy scooter deal with Fritz. We ended up with a new scooter Seki as it's a Seki eats (uber eats equivalent) scooter so we could explore Savai'i, the other island.
    We had to wait until 2pm to catch our ferry so indulged in some half decent coffee.....

    After fueling up we made our way to the ferry terminal. There was no way to pre book but we're assured as we had a scooter they'd do anything to get us on. The line was long, it was hot but we made it on the 2pm ferry!!Read more

  • Water, Sunsets and Pina Coladas! 🍹

    We took no time settling in and went straight into the water. We tried to hire some snorkeling gear from the only hire place on the island (straight across the road from us) but they'd closed for the day 😢
    We made the most of what we had - the beach, some kayaks, the pool and a whole lot of 20% off cocktails during happy hour! All this with the sun setting was just what we needed!

    After much deliberation, feeling a little worse for wear after the cocktails, we had a delicious tropical breakfast and then jumped on the scooter for a ride around the island!

  • Blowholes

    After what felt like a lifetime we finally arrived at our destination Alofaaga Blowholes. This was another must see when in Samoa. When the waves crash against the cliff water is pushed through holes created by lava flow and water shoots high into the sky. We had the place to ourselves and it was like nothing we've ever seen!   • Coffee, Bob Juniors and a sigh of relief

    We finally made it back to our Fale and got some needed coffee and burgers and a break for our numb bums! We enjoyed the burgers (bob juniors - fish) by the beach before having a much needed rest

  • Books, Snorkeling and Sunsets

    We spent the afternoon trying to get snorkeling gear from across the road but no luck. We opted for a rest reading books in the veranda before Sam had the idea of popping next door to another resort to see if they had some snorkeling gear. They did!!!
    We enjoyed a long time snorkeling before jumping in the pool to watch the sun go down, this time alcohol free.

    We were hoping to attend the cultural night and Buffett at our resort but it got cancelled so we decided to go somewhere else.   • Salelologa Ferry Terminal Savai'i

    We made our way back around the island to catch the ferry back to Upolo. This was an experience we'll never forget!
    We nearly came off because of some wild dogs on the road, Sam's expert driving we managed to safely escape the first 2 before another one was on us!! 🐕
    We made it past safely and then were greeted by the parade of the Amoa College Rugby team who won the Under 18 Rugby Championship 🏆 it was awesome to see a lot of the villages celebrating the success of their boys! They did it for Savai'i,
