• G&W - Golden Round Trip ⛴️ 🚞🚠

    September 19 in Switzerland ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Grant and Wendi completed the Golden Round Trip around Mt. Pilatus! This mountain directly overlooks Lucerne. The golden round trip consists of taking all forms of transport around the mountain. Up one side, then down the other!

First up was a ferry ⛴️ which was so calm in the morning. After we jumped on the steepest cogwheel train in the world 🛤️ The train took us all the way up! We enjoyed the summit and hiked up to the very peak. After, we grabbed an incredible lunch at the hotel on top. This hotel was built in 1902, we were surprised they could get everything up there. While we were discussing that, we noticed a helicopter making trips to bring supplies up and down 🚁

After we took the gondola 🚠 to a mid-point and got afagato at a lodge. We decided to skip a cable car 🚡 and hike 2.5 miles down to the next spot! It was a great hike past farms and chalet houses 🖼️

We found the cutest inn / restaurant on our way down and we had just enough cash for two drinks 🍻

It was getting dark and Grant tried to call an Uber since the rest of the lift had closed. It makes sense, but Ubers don’t go all the way up there!! We were just a few miles from town so we kept hiking until we reached paved roads for the car 😅 The hike turned out to be nearly double in length (and a little in the dark) but we enjoyed it none-the-less and ended up waiting for our car near some cows with traditional bells!

After all the hiking, we were starving and decided to still get a nice late dinner because it’s not everyday you are in Switzerland! Wendi had her favorite meal of the whole trip to round out the day 😊
