We could almost say, another ferry, another fort. We visited the swamp hangout of the "entrepreneur" (pirate) Jean Lafitte and the 1815 battlefield of his earstwhile buddy, Andrew Jackson.

Lafitte is quite the mythical figure. We don't quite know when or where he was born. Or when or where he died. But in between he was larger than life.

New Orleans truly is one if a kind. A cultural melting pot like no other in America. Strolled around the French quarter with a ferry ride over the mighty Mississippi. Lots of exotic meats here to our vegetarian horror: gater turtle soup, and other helpless seafood. Passed on ding here.Okumaya devam et

John LovaasAh, New Orleans—-another of those places you are visiting that are on my list in the U.S. Never been there except to pass thru the airport a couple of times coming from and going to Central America. Can you see effects of the Katrina? You should stay fro Mardi Gras! Hope to see more pics.

GezginDid not see anything obvious from Katrina but then we didn't venture far from the French Quarter. I was here 12 months after Katrina and the affect was astonishing even then.
