• Whitewater on the Ocoee

    June 3, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

The guys had an awesome day on the river with Cherokee Whitewater! (Highly recommend!) Some great class 3 and 4 rapids...their guide...Thomas, aka " My Bad", took them places other guides would not go. Lots of flipping and rapid swimming, even a few rescues of swimmers from other boats (aka Rescue Dude)....great lunch on the river. Memories made!!!Read more

  • Proud of my lady

    May 21, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

I am so proud of my sweet lady. She had shoulder surgery 8 days before we left on this trip and is laid up for a while.

She still can't sleep in a bed; a recliner has been the best so far.

She could be recovering on the couch at home and sleeping in the recliner, but she was willing to go camping instead. It is not as comfortable for her and we can't do a lot, but here she is.

She hasn't complained once. We did a hike this morning. She did what she could. And she is doing he PT as well.

We have played games, read, listened to music and spent quality time together.

I cherish my lady and I am very proud of her. I love our adventures together

  • The falls at Fall Creek Falls

    May 21, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 75 °F

Worth the hike. The view from the Overlook was nice but does not compare to the sounds at the bottom of the falls. As the splashing water pushes the air down and out inside the cavernous ravine like the reverse of a mushroom cloud. I was soaked by an aerosol like mist of nature.Read more

  • Fall Creek Falls Hike

    May 21, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Pat hiked all the way to the falls. There was a section of trail near the bottom too sketchy for a one-armed bandit...so Amy sat it out trailside and socialized with passing hikers. Pat took some great pictures of the falls. Beautiful day and trail. Must come back here with our bikes!!!Read more

  • Home Sweet Home site A46

    May 19, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

We have arrived and set up camp. I'm waiting for someone to ask me why I'm in a sling so I can tell them I got mouthy last time Pat was backing the camper 🤣 (He did awesome!)
Pat has cut some yummy strawberries for desert and is starting dinner. Why does camping always make you hungry?Read more

  • Amy's long awaited shoulder surgery!

    May 11, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F

Shoulder surgery (right) went well. Dr. Pagnani and his team are awesome. There was more damage than expected, including 2 tears in the rotator cuff, a tear in the labrum, labrum stuck inside the joint, bone spurs, and arthritis, but all taken care of. The nerve block completely deadened my right arm and hand...it was like my hand was dead...strange sensation. That wore off in the middle of the night. I'd like it back, please. Pain is not too bad, unless I move 🤣🤣🤣 My sweet husband took a video of loopy Amy for your enjoyment, but it's too small to upload. Speaking of Pat, I am blessed beyond measure. He is taking such wonderful care of me!Read more

  • Testing the Blackstone

    April 22, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

Pat cooking the first meal on the Blackstone.

Smashburgers and Hashbrowns. The best part was that Jacob drove over and joined in the fun.

This being the "Lucy's" maiden voyage, we were trying out everything getting ready for the season. The Blackstone is going to be great!

We had a nice dinner and then time by the fire.

  • Zurich

    Sep 12–14, 2022 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 52 °F

We were like mice in a maze looking for cheese (check out the Google Maps screenshot). And what was the cheese? For what we searching? Nothing really. Maybe a little dress shopping (which wasn't particularly successful). We criss-crossed all around ‘Old Town'.

Zurich was so completely different from Italy. And for us, was actually an afterthought. Zurich was the landing place after the Bernina Express and the pathway back home.

After 2 weeks of travel, it is time to return home. We miss our loved ones, our friends and our bed.

But Zurich was the last hoorah - well a hoorah at our speed. We shopped, we ate something other than pizza and pasta, and we enjoyed the architecture. Like Italy, cobblestone streets, but the buildings were these opulent artwork buildings. You've seen these buildings in movies and pictures of 50 years and they look just like 50 years ago and completely up to date.

We meandered through the streets and alleyways listening to the music of street musicians, shopping and taking in the sidewalk cafes. The meandering was the gift of the day.

One of the better parts of the day was the view at Lindenhofplatz. The park setting with mostly gravel walking area has wall that overlooks the river and the city and most importantly ‘Old Town. We sat on the wall, dangling our feet over the side, drank a fresh iced cappuccino, and took in the view, took a beat, listened to the music of a sidewalk performer. It was a nice moment.

Zurich was beatiful, but the best part of the day had nothing to do with the location, or the fabulous weather (Amy mentioned the weather 8 or 9 times – maybe more). The best part was the serendipitous day. My lovely wife squeezing one last day, a day with no expectations, a day with no stress, a day of us hand-in-hand finding what we find, into the best trip of my life.
