  • Day 37 Saying goodbye to Santiago, Spain

    July 28, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Fast speed trains are awesome. It would be great to have these back home. HB to Yosemite in 2 hrs... We are back in Santiago and it feels like home. Seeing pilgrims all around hobbling because they’re sore and seeing new pilgrims making their way into the Compostela area never gets old. We took a tour of the cathedral tower and roof. The views were breathtaking. Did a little shopping and took in the city 1 more time. The heat and humidity was intense.Read more

  • Part 2 of Day 37

    July 28, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Spain is a beautiful country. The people are very kind, humble and welcoming. From big cities to small pueblos, this land is so green with an abondance of rivers. lakes and coastline. The spàniards take pride in keeping their history preserved, alive ànd present. But what I give them the gold métal for is how they have left there nature parks grow and maintained in there cities so the citizens have miles and miles of nature to walk, run or bike thru. They look like central park in NY but better. Thank you Spain for showing me your beauty and allowing me to witness how lovely your people are. So long till next time.Read more

  • Part 2 of Day 6

    August 3, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We had a nice Paloma cocktail at sunset at the Palace hotel. Since we had a kitchenette in our apartment, I made us a home cooked meal. It was to lovely. Eating out gets old sometimes. The tour of our apartment is dark. Sorry about that. The lightning wasn't bright enough.Read more

  • Day 7 last day în Lake Como

    August 4, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Early start today. We were in line for an on and off boat tickets at 6:30. Our board ride was almost 3 hrs to get to the town of Varenna. Beautiful town as busy as Bellagio. We had a nice walk on lovers lane. We came across a swimming cove and had to take a dip to cool off.Read more

  • Part 2 of day 7

    August 4, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Our 2nd stop was to the town of Belagio. I learned that the Belagio here was the inspiration to the one built in vegas. I can't confirm it since we didn't go into the hotel. William struggled with the crowds today. We both finds ourselves agreeing that the popular sights were typical tourists go is not our thîg especially comîg off the Camîno where we had hours of solitude. Just you and your thoughts. And because we went straight from the Camino to being a tourist, we haven't had the time to process all we have experienced on our 32 day walk. We're having fun because we chose to make it fun and easy but going forward, we're going to do better in picking where we go and how crowded will it be. We had a 3rd stop to a little town before returning to Como.Read more

  • Day 8 in Turîn

    August 5, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

Keeping it extra real today. Bad days exsist on vacations and today was one of them. My last bad day was 6 days into the Camino when I hit a mental physical block wall. I hit that wall again today. You know how sometimes we joke we need a vacation from the vacation... im tired mentally and physically just with many pretty views. In planning this fantastic trip, it never crossed my mind that this would come up as a challenge. Life in general is the same way. We just have to slow down, take some deep cleansing breaths, and reroute even on vacation..The pièce de résistance is being grateful to recognize what's happening so that you can make the necessary shift and being ok ́ not being ok. That being said, not much video or photos taken today. Turin has a lot of history with kings, queen, and palaces. At the Sametime, too much graffiti. Chao to Turin and we move on tomorrow to Cinque Terre because I choose to make it fun and easy 😁
PS. The Go Pro wouldn't stay straight on the scootor. Sorry for the bad video.

  • Part 2 of Day 9

    August 6, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 27 °C

Dinner was good tonight. Cooked by a husband and wife restaurant. Gave us great service.
We even had a normal salad. Tonight made up for the day we had yesterday 😁

  • Day 9 in Levanto

    August 6, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

Traveling was easy today. Only 3 1/2 hours on train to get to Levanto. Right outside Cinque Terre. I felt better since I got some more sleep by sleeping in till 8am. Levanto is a picturesk beach town. It has a nice vibe to it. Their sand is on the darker brown side and sticks to the skin more than the kind at home. We enjoyed the beach today. We did get our phones wet by trusting we had a waterproof bag but not the case. Unable to chargé currently but I have faith that they will be fine in the morning after drying ûder fans overnight🙏Read more

  • Day 10 Levanto Day 2

    August 7, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

We started the day with a 5 mile hike that was difficult. Here is Cinque Terre, there are 5 towns plus Levanto where you can hike from one to another or hike all off them across. We hiked from Levanto to Montorosso. On the hike we came onto a bed & breakfast hidden up in hills with a shell from the Camino. It lite up our faces. That's when you know the universe talks to you. Completely different country, hundreds of miles away and there it is ❤️ pretty flowers along the way and I was able to eat wild blackberries too. William had bacon & eggs for breakfast which is not common here so he was a happy camper. I had focaccia bread margarita style and one with gorgonzola cheese and potatoes. It was yummy😋Read more

  • Part 2 of day 10

    August 8, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Our next stop was on a boat to a town called Porto Venere. We walked around and it was a pleasant stroll but hot so we bolted to the ocean to cool off. Now we can add the mediterraneen sea to our checked list of oceans. The coastline here is mostly rocks. Tough on the feet. The beaches where you pay all have sand and umbrellas. We go where the locals go and it's free. Water was refreshing and not cold. Our 3rd stop was Riomaggiore. We started heading towards a castle but it was so crowded, hot, and the town is on a steep cliff. After taking 10 steep stairs, we turned around and bolted again to the beach to cool off. Didn't film anything there, sorry.Read more

  • Part 2 of Day 11

    August 9, 2024 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

So I rallied, got dressed at 9pm and headed out to get some dinner. Probably not the smartest thing to do since I needed to be by a restroom but I didn't want our last night to end with me in bed. It turned out to be a lovely night. Kept my meal down and no rushing to a bathroom. After dinner we went for a walk and came across live music. They sounded great even though we couldn't understand a word. They did play an Elvis song in Italian but I sang along in English. The night ended on a positive note and to me that's a big win. It will take a few more days to get back to feeling 100% but I will keep on moving and enjoying every minute that im blessed to be out here for 💪🙏🥰

  • Day 12 Pisa

    August 9, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

I took that infamous photo of holding up the La Torre of Pisa. We rode around town in scooters so William was extra happy. He loves riding those things. We do get to see more since we save time in walking every where. Fun fact of the day. I learned that the Pisa is shaped more like a banana. When they noticed it was leaning the wanted about 125 yrs to fix it and put the top leaning the opposite way 🍌 so it wouldn't fall over.Read more

  • Part 5 Pisa

    August 9, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

The Museum of Pisa and some areas around the town. What you can't see is how hot it is. We saw another museum but it had no AC and we just couldn't function so we did not take photos. The heat sucks the life out of you. Sometimes I'm surprised that we end up seeing as much as we do with the heat and crowds. It was in the 90s 🥵 My favorite Pisa buildings was the lighted up Legos one with the little people at the bottom. I still love building a set of legos🥰Read more

  • Day 12 Florence Part 2

    August 9, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

We finished up doing our laundry, walked aroùd and found where we're having dinner and dessert tomorrow. The melted chocolate wînow had William wrapped around their meeting pot. We ended up picking up some chinese takeout before heading home. My stomach is not 100% but I'm able to keep down light food. My stomach muscles are super soar from 🤢🤮. Its reassuring to know I do have muscle in my belly, lol😂Read more

  • Day 13 Florence Day 3

    August 10, 2024 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Slept in which I needed since my tummy is not great but not good for being a tourist. It's so crucial to be out by 7am even when most doors don't open till 8 for the museums and the Cathedrals. Because we didn't buy our tickets in advance, the Duomo was sold out till August 20th. Thats on me and even though its what I really wanted to visit out of the 30 sites you can see here, I was ok seeing its museum. Gives me another reason to come back to Florence. Did i mention that it was 103 temp today... 🥵
    1st stop is the Babtistry.
