Longest train tunnel in the world

So said the conductor. 20minutes long!
Tunnel exit

Yup, almost exactly 20m
Now entering: Italy

Oh man are we going to eat well here. Maybe also see things. But mostly eat.
Train transfer in Milan

Boy is it hot. And crowded. Also, wow the Swiss are organized in comparison... Milan couldn't tell us what track we would be on till the train arrived. Zurich knew it weeks in advance.
25 minutes late to Rome

At this point we'll be to Naples after midnight. Sigh.
Hotel Piazza Bellini

Finally arrived!
First morning in italy

And here's the view from our balcony
Panoramic from the balcony

Lunch on the coast

Interesting narrow road

With more switch backs than that road in San Francisco
Dinner at etto

Guess whose is whose?
Pompeii

Guided tours are worth it, even with all the hidden fees
Lunch at the pompeii pizzeria

Pasta with clams, margherita pizza, shrimp and calamari
We climbed mt Vesuvius

Most of the way, at least
Dinner at ristorante al veccio 53

Sea bass is delicious. As was the gnocchi. And the mozzarella. And the coke. So good.
Waiting for a ferry to capri

We really should have learned Italian. Few English speakers outside of restaurants.
Arrival in capri

Cloudy and beautiful. Heading for anacapri and the blue grotto
View from the "mama mia" bridge

On the way to anacapri
Atop mount solaro

Nice view and tasty gelato
Downtown capri

The clock struck 230 and we are now on our way to blue grotto
The blue grotto

Gotta go in on a rowboat.. and duck since the entrance is so low
Dinner at Tandem

Yes, that's the name. Meatballs, house special pasta. We also had bread and gravy, and caprese salad, but we were so hungry we forgot to photograph it till it was half gone. :D
Hello, rome
