Hello (selamat hari) Malaysia

After the wonderful tour from Yy and his friends yesterday, we woke up feeling excited but nervous about exploring Malaysia “alone.” It’s so wonderfully disorienting to be in a country where everything is new. We’re slowly trying to figure out how to: order vegan food in a restaurant (so far we haven’t been very successful…); where to buy groceries (check!); safe spots to take out cash (check again!); and what roads to travel.

Getting out of Johor Bahru we had no choice but to ride the 3-6 lane highway. Luckily we had some new hand signal skills from Yy about how to manoeuvre through traffic. We even found $5 on the side of the road!

Later, we took a side road that turned into a red dirt plantation track. We were a bit wary of our surroundings and ended up seeing our first monkeys swinging from the palm trees above us!Okumaya devam et
