One popular theory is that the blue keeps mosquitos away, another is that Jews introduced the blue when they took refuge from Hitler in the 1930s.     The Royal residence was built in 1988 in what was once Feddan Park. The palace is still active as King Mohammed VI has been known to visit during the summer. It is not open to visitors.

    Tetouan is a jewel of a town in a striking location at the foot of the Rif Mountains, and just a few kilometres from the sea. Despite seeing relatively few foreign visitors, there's an air of authenticity here that adds great value to a visit. The ancient medina, a Unesco World Heritage site, looks like it has not changed in several centuries. The modern centre that abuts it gleams in white, its Spanish facades given a recent facelift to seductive affect.Read more

    The Isaac Ben Walid Synagogue is a synagogue in the mellah of Tetuan, Morocco. The synagogue is named after Rabbi Isaac Bengualid, author of the 2-volume Vayomer Yitzhak, a history of the Jews of Tetuan.

    Synagogue continues tradition. ... Challah, an egg-based bread made without butter or milk, is usually served on Saturdays — Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest — to represent the double-portion of manna that fell from Heaven and fed the Israelites after their exodus from Egypt.
