What a day! William was a bit unsure if he wanted to attempt this mountain, especially since the only weather window meant we had to leave the next morning. He agreed though, and we got an "early" start (8:30). The hike was challenging and along the way William came up with names for each section. We stopped frequently to rest and enjoy the views. Weather threatened us most of the day from the Sundance canyon, but held off most of the day. The summit push was a slippery scramble over loose rocks, we both fell lots. The view from the top made it all worth it. We soaked it in, but a clap of thunder reminded us we still had a long descent. The weather finally moved in just as we finished Dragon's Back, wind and rain whipped up and then moved out quickly. The rest of the descent was hard on our feet and legs but William did not complain.Read more
