Troyes on Sunday 28th May

We went on the hunt for the Knight templars. A huge forest but no buildings left standing.
Troyes did not disappoint 👏. Amazing Tudor buildings with a cafe culture.
Wonderful Cathedral of Saint Pierre and Saint Paul de Troyes with magnificent pillars and stained glass windows built in 1208.
The medieval old town features narrow, cobbled streets lined with colorful, half-timbered houses, mostly dating from the 16th century.Read more

Eventually found a lovely place for our over night, just by the canal. Very peaceful and a good dog walk.

Hmmm! Very busy city. After a long drive it was a bit tricky! Tried to stay but couldn't find anywhere suitable. Found a perfect spot in Taissy 10k outside. Looking forward to a good 😴 💤.

We saw the cathedral from the road and decided to stop for look. So glad we did! A medieval town high up on the only hill.
Inside the Notre Dame de Laon Adagio for strings was playing.

Went to see Hero's Square in Arras. Spectacular! Dutch architecture. Wonderful to walk round the corner to a fantastic vista. Beautiful weather. 😍

Lille is beautiful! Wednesday 24th May

Parked on rue de Foch! This is a memorial statue to the Focher. Great atmosphere 👌. Just before we arrived we saw lots of Commonwealth War Graves. Must have been heavy fighting around the area.

Lille Wednesday 24th May

After a quick walk into Calais we set off to Lille. Long drive on the back roads. Parked in the center and walked into the old town. Just beautiful. Little Street cafés everywhere. Went into Eglise St Maurice de Lille church. Stunning architecture and stained glass windows. Lots of confessionals! They must be bad in Lille! Built in the middle ages. Expanded 1868!Read more

Exploring Calais Tuesday 23rd May

Lovely day exploring. The town hall was magnificent. Opposite was a park with a massive WWll bunker. Loved the statues of the 6 burghers. Citadel, where the English laid seige to the French in 1346. Edward lll said if 6 people come out wearing a noose and with the keys to the town, he would let the rest live. He was so impressed with their bravery, and his wife Phillipa asked for mercy as she was pregnant, that he spared everyone.
Fortifications from the 2nd World War on Churchill Avenue. Magnificent Church of Notra Dame and the Tudor gardens. The roses scented the air. Beautiful 😍.
Found a wonderful spot by the harbour to rest up. So nice we stayed the night. Picnic tea was magnificent 👌 as we ate everything in the fridge!Read more

Overnight in Calais Monday 22nd May

Our 1st night in 🇫🇷 France. Lovely walk on the beach to unwind. Dogs loved it. 😍 Buffet tea and camped on the sea front.

Just boarded a later ferry. Horrific journey down but we're on our way. I was able to enjoy a cuppa in the traffic jam.
