Our last day in Xi'an 😥 😜

After breakfast at our hotel we went for a walk on the old city wall which is 15km long and was built in 300BC. Preparations on the wall were in full swing for big light displays for Chinese New Year at the end of January. David rode 12km whilst Mads and Ann walked past all the posing princesses - girls (and a few boys) LOVE dressing up and costumes for hire are available at every scenic spot.
Next we went to the Muslim food market and had delicious street food and a meal at a family owned restaurant. On our way back to the hotel at 20h00 the New Year frenzy had started with young people carrying huge bunches of balloons - all to be let off at midnight together with fireworks!!! (Very sad for the subsequent damage to environment)
