  • Agra - Oberoi Amarvilas

    13. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

From Delhi, we drove to Agra - home of the Taj Majal. We arrived at our hotel…where every room has a view of the Taj. Wow..just wow. It didn’t disappoint!! We enjoyed the pool, toured and had a wonderful dinner at the Esphahan Indian restaurant.Les mer

  • Taj by Sunset

    13. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

We met our guide for a sunset viewing of the backside of the Taj Mahal from across the river. He is also a professional photographer so our pictures should be unbelievable!! Of course…they are cleaning the Taj for the first time in 400 years - gonna have to photoshop over the scaffolding!!Les mer

  • Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

    14. oktober 2025, India ⋅ 🌙 66 °F

Another over the top experience in India. Our guide is not only an expert historian, he is also a professional photographer. He had us up and out the door at 5am to beat the crowds at the gate and have the opportunity to be the first in the Taj Mahal. We did it and it was surreal. We didn’t even use our cameras. He took all the photos on his phone, created a video of the experience and air dropped it all to us. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning.Les mer

  • Agra Fort & more

    14. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

After breakfast, we hit the road again to see the Agra Fort and another tomb - nicknamed the “Baby Taj”. We finished with a visit to see how the marble in-lays are created - a skill honed by generations of families dating back to the marble in-layers who built the Taj Mahal.Les mer

  • Old town Agra

    14. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

No visit to a new Indian city would be complete without a visit to the old town to see all the shops and chaos that make India work. Then back to the hotel to enjoy the pool and dinner.

  • Ramathra Fort

    15. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

We drove 6 hrs from Agra to this heritage hotel in Ramathra. It was originally a fortress from 1645 AD that has been passed down from generation to generation. We were looking for a getaway from the city life and did we get it…we are the only guests in this 12 room hotel!Les mer

  • Camel ride to Ramathra

    16. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 81 °F

We spent our second day in Ramathra exploring the area. We started with a camel cart ride into the local town to see rural life in India. The kids are off school for a holiday called Divali and loved to see the camel and seeing themselves in the photos we captured. It was a very cool experience and everyone was so friendly.Les mer

  • Evening safari ride

    16. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

Our evening adventure was a nighttime “safari”. This area is not a national park but they do have jackals, hyenas, gazelle, wolf and leopards. We didn’t see much during the daylight but did see wolf, hyena, gazelle, fox and even a jungle cat with a spotlight in the dark.Les mer

  • Oberoi Vanyavilas Wildlife Resort

    17. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 91 °F

From Ramathra, we drove 3 hours to arrive at our hotel near Ranthambhore National Park - another unbelievable Oberoi property! Our trip planner in the States told the local travel agency in India that our anniversary is on October 19th so that we could have extra celebrations while in country. This hotel definitely went over the top to make our stay extra special!!Les mer

  • Ranthambhore National Park

    17. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 91 °F

We started our afternoon with the first of three safaris while we are here. Tiger sightings are what this park is known for and we have been blessed on this trip with more than we could ever hope for. Within the first hour, we had a sighting and our guide and driver were able to pull our jeep around all the congestion to give us front row seats to this amazing creature! Can’t imagine it getting any better!Les mer

  • Safari #2

    18. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

Our second safari didn’t disappoint! We were able to see a mother tiger and her two 6 month old cubs. After talking to other guests in our hotel…we have been extremely lucky to have seen any tigers..let alone so close! The park assigns each vehicle to one of ten sections (10-12 vehicles in each section) and some sections have no sightings at all.Les mer

  • Celebrating 30 years

    18. oktober 2025, India ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

Our hotel went over the top to help us celebrate our anniversary (Jun 3rd but in India it’s October 19th!). We had a private dinner under a lighted tree with our own private host. What a vacation this has been!Les mer

  • Jaipur - The Oberoi Rajvilas

    19. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 88 °F

We arrived in Jaipur in the early afternoon and were able to enjoy another amazing Oberoi property…to include some much needed spa time! Each hotel seems to be getting grander and more opulent! We had a nice dinner with some Aussie friends we made in Ranthambhore and more celebrating 30 years!Les mer

  • Old town Jaipur

    20. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

We started our morning with a trip to downtown Jaipur to see Jantar Mantar (the Astronomical Observatory) built in 1729 and the City Palace. No tour would be complete without the visits to see the local arts - miniature painting, block printing of the textiles and carpet making. We managed to get away without a significant purchase although the pressure is always high!!Les mer

  • Happy Diwali

    20. oktober 2025, India ⋅ 🌙 82 °F

Happy Diwali! Diwali is one of the biggest Hindu religious festivals of the year - think Christmas and New Years all rolled in one. They light up the city and their homes, buy gifts for friends and family and open their doors to the god Lakshmi for a prosperous new year. We celebrated with a family that opened their small hotel to guests and provided an evening of good food, drink and friendship. We learned about Rajasthan and the history of Diwali. The night ended with fireworks…all around the town…until early morning. I think every household in Jaipur had an armory that they set off!!Les mer

  • Udaipur - City Palace

    22. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

After an early morning flight from Jaipur, we started exploring Udaipur with a tour of the City Palace. The moghuls (Islam leaders) did not overtake this palace so the original Maharana’s (kings) ruled and kept the art and structure intact. The palace was PACKED due to the holiday. We had another sales pitch from Kashmir artisans selling pashmina scarves and silk rugs. Due to the unrest in the north, the palace offers shops for them to keep their art alive. We definitely supported them and bought a beautiful rug😜! We finished our tour with a tuk tuk ride through the old town. Udaipur is a slow haven compared to our other cities we visited!Les mer

  • Udaipur - Oberoi Udaivilas

    22. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 86 °F

Another wow…just wow. Our last hotel is on the lake overlooking the city palace and surrounding mountains. This property sprawls 40 acres and it goes for days. We upgraded our room to a semi private (although we have no neighbors) pool side/lake view room!!! What a way to end this vacation!Les mer

  • Cooking Class

    23. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 84 °F

Our morning adventure started with a tour of a local artisan’s collection of traditional paintings, carvings and other collectibles. It was like going to a museum and WAY out of our price range! We then went to the home of Mr Mahipal Singh and enjoyed an amazing cooking demonstration and lunch with his wife - Meenakshi Singh. I took a bunch of videos and left with her cookbook so I hope I will be able to recreate some meals!!Les mer

  • Sunset Cruise

    23. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 82 °F

Our evening finished with a sunset cruise from our hotel on Lake Pichola overlooking the City Palace and Taj Lake Palace. They call Udaipur the Venice of India - stunning and a great relaxing location to end our journeys.Les mer

  • Gondolas & Camels

    24. oktober 2025, India ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

We changed our itinerary for our last day in India - on our drives around town, we saw a cool hike to a temple and camel rides for the tourists. Our guide was a trooper and hiked to the top with us and a beautiful ride down on a gondola and we finished with a totally cheesy camel ride in the middle of a busy street. It was awesome!!Les mer

  • Goodbye India!

    24. oktober 2025, India ⋅ 🌧 82 °F

We ended our trip with a flight back to Mumbai. We had a 6 hour layover- of course we needed to have a hotel room🤪. We enjoyed our last few hours in the hotel and the airport lounge. Now we are off to Munich and a hopefully a good stand by flight back to the States. India definitely has our heart!Les mer
