Off to Birmingham
February 11 in England ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C
Flight is at 09:00, so we leave the house at 06:15.
Arrive at the car park and - again - the machine doesn't read the number plate. Last time it was the Camry. Have to search for the email with the QR code. The parking attendant tries the QR code. That doesn't work either. But, happy that we have a booking, he let's us in. Fiasco with the Help 1.
The shuttle bus from the car park departed just as we were approaching. Just as well, really. It gave me time to go back and photograph the sign for the parking bay for future reference. Later this evening.
Queues are light at security. Small panic while we wait for MTC's tray to finally make its way through the scanner.
At Marquette there is fooster with the App for coffee stamps. This is Fiasco with the Help 2. Adfter eating our extortionately prices sandwiches, at MTC's suggestion I explain my problem to a supervisor, Paul.
He tries to help, but fails too. He offers me a croissant in compensation. I decline. A muffin? I decline again. He offers to sort me out next time. To his surprise, I tell him I'll be back next Sunday. We will seek to resolve it then.
This is twice there has been fooster. I have concluded that I need to mention the App before I pay, get it scanned and then pay. We shall see next Sunday.
At the gate we meet Kevin. The plane is jammers with Villa fans. I am sitting between two. Brendan and Someone Else. How I have missed conversations where every second adjective, adverb and comma is an f-word. Class.
The person known as Someone Else recommends a visit to Smokey Joes food truck at the ground and to the Witton Arms (which, apparently, has been done up).
We land. We eventually find our way through the work-in-progress up to the Monorail and onto the train for the 15 minute trip to New Street.
We visit the Bullring shopping centre and eventually make our way to the Old Joint Stock pub.
No Fiasco with the Help here. Our reserved table is waiting. Cruzcampo on tap! Delicious burgers.Read more
