  • OMO Kansai Airport Hotel in Rinku Town

    9. April 2024 in Japan ⋅ 🌬 14 °C

Because we are going to take the early morning flight at the airport the next morning, we stay in the new OMO Kansai airport hotel in Rinku town. There is an outlet and some attraction nearby, but we were very tired after the crazy train ride and there was a delay of 2 hours, we took a nap in the room before dinner.

We had dinner at One Karubi all-you-can-eat Wagyu Beef bbq for dinner. It was a delicious meal and we love the dessert too!

After dinner, we went shopping at the supermarket across. Then we walk back to our hotel.

After shipped some luggage to Tokyo, I took a bath in the public onsen at the hotel. After bath, I found Symeon fell asleep already. Good night, Osaka!

  • Heading to Hong Kong

    10. April 2024 in Hong Kong ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

We woke up early and took the shuttle bus from the hotel to the airport. Because we were early to the airport, the whole boarding process was very smooth.

After security check, we had some time to spend at the airport.

I got Symeon some breakfast, then I went shopping for some cold medicine myself and I bought some cake that we can eat on the flight. I finally bought a beef bento for Symeon and he ate it right away at the airport.

We boarded our plane and the ride was smooth and we arrived Hong Kong safely!

Both Symeon and I were sick after arriving Hong Kong, we stayed at Great Grandma’s home to visit her. We are glad that Great Grandma was doing good and everyone treated her well.

We stayed at home for a couple days and went out with Great Grandma and family for dim sum on Saturday. Symeon was willing to try different food and we had a great lunch!Weiterlesen

  • Heading to Narita

    20. April 2024 in Hong Kong ⋅ 🌬 29 °C

We said goodbye to our family in Hong Kong then the family driver sent us to the Hong Kong airport. After checked-in, passed through the immigration and security, Symeon told me he wants to go to McDonald and try different McDonald in different places in the world. He ordered the same food he use to have at home and they tasted the same. I ordered an instant noodle with satay beef (Hong Kong style; my childhood favourite).

We then boarded our plane to Narita Airport, Tokyo. After we arrived the airport, we discovered that we missed the shuttle bus to our hotel tonight. Therefore, we cruised around Terminal 2 of the Narita airport. We went to the Pokémon store and got the popular dessert from a convenience store as well.

  • Soranoyu Spa Resort

    20. April 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

This was our first time staying in a capsule hotel. We were staying just for the night, so we could pick up daddy from the airport the next day.

The food in the resort was great. We love the onsen (hot spring) experience too. We were stayed separately in male and female room which gave us some private time. However, some people arrived late night and some people left early in the morning and woke me up in the middle of the night. It was also so hot inside the capsule.

I would say it is a great experience, but I probably will not do it again unless I have super early flight in Tokyo!

  • Visiting Naritasan

    21. April 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

The checkout time for the capsule hotel is 9am. We were the last people checking out. However, it is still too early to pick up daddy, so we decided to visit the Naritasan nearby the airport.

Both Symeon and I didn’t sleep well last night. After checking out, we took the bus to Naritasan. Symeon felt asleep on the bus too.

It was a Sunday, but it is not super busy at Naritasan; maybe because we arrived early. There was a drum festival happening at Naritasan too.

There was a temple, we didn’t go in, but we took some picture outside. There were stores and restaurants selling Japanese traditional food and crafts. There were restaurants selling unagi don (eel rice) and they cut the eel and barbecued them outside and made the street smells so good.

Symeon and I tried some crackers, sticky rice ball and some milk from the local farm too. Then, we rode the JR train to the airport and pick up daddy.

  • Asakusa View Hotel Annex Rokku

    21.–25. Apr. 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

We picked this hotel because we had a good time at SKYTREE last time when we visited Tokyo. However, we did not have time to visit most of the Asakusa.

We arrived early and our room was ready. We were happy to rest a bit in our room before going out for dinner.

We like this hotel because there were some traditional and some modern elements in this hotel. There was also tradition Japanese musical and dancing performance here too.

The most impressive about this hotel was they offer a complimentary lounge on the top floor. We could have some free beverage as well as some traditional local snack. We could enjoy the lounge everyday from 3pm to 10pm. The lounge itself was very elegant and peaceful. They played some relaxing music. They displayed the models of the attraction nearby. Last but not least, we could see the beautiful SKYTREE day time and night time from the lounge too.

Symeon, the teenager, sometimes wants some “me” time and he will go to the lounge and play with his iPad. I will come to the lounge to write my journal too! We love this place.

  • Early Dinner at Asakusa Imahan

    21. April 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Because daddy was having jet lag, we decided to skip lunch and had early dinner with him. We decided to have something nice for daddy’s first dinner in Japan. We picked dinner at Asakusa Imahan.

Asakusa Imahan is a famous restaurant for sukiyaki and they opened since 1895. The location we went is the original store of the restaurant. They have traditional Japanese renovation and the servers put on traditional kimono to serve us.

We ordered a 7-course dinner and we all like it. We did not only enjoy the food in the restaurant, but we could also feel the history of the restaurant.

At the end of the dinner, they also gave us a gift to take home. This is Japanese hospitality!

Their croissant is very good and we also bought some other bake goods to eat at the hotel later. Because it was so good, we bought more bake goods in Yokohama and ate them on our cruise ship during later of our journey!Weiterlesen

We visited Team Lab Borderless 5 years ago. Symeon loved it a lot.

Team Lab Borderless moved to a new location at Azabudai Hill and they added some new elements, so we decided to go visit the Digital Art Museum again.

This was daddy’s first time visiting a museum by Team Lab; he was impressed with the show.

At first, there were light show of different arts. Then, we went to a session of digital aquarium and could colour our own sea creature and scan it. Our creatures will be alive in the digital aquarium.

Finally, we visit a tea house. We buy a drink after playing at the museum for 2 hours. There is a light show inside the drink.

After visiting Azabudai Hill, we decided to go back to the hotel for a break and having dinner nearby the hotel we are staying.

We walked by the neighbourhood after a rest in our room and we finally picked to eat at Marugame Udon. Symeon loves to eat Udon a lot, but the newly open Marugame Udon in Vancouver has a long lineup all the time. However, there was no line in Asakusa at all. Both the udon and tempura were very good. We were happy with the dinner!Weiterlesen

After visiting the Harry Potter Studio, we went to Shinjuku for shopping. After shopping, we still had lot of time before our dinner reservation.

We decided to go for a drink, sit down and relax. We finally went to a basement of a department store. We found a CBD cafe. Because daddy had an injury on his arm and he was in pain, he wanted to try the CBD coffee in the store. Symeon had a regular iced chocolate drink and I ordered a traditional matcha tea.Weiterlesen

  • Dinner meeting with Tutor Martin

    23. April 2024 in Japan ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Back in early March, I told Symeon’s tutor Martin that we are going to have some time off for chemistry lesson because we are going to Japan in April. At the same time, Martin told us that he and his girlfriend are going to Japan in April too.

We decided to meet up together and we picked to eat at a Japanese barbecue restaurant. The food in this restaurant is delicious. However, there was a time limit for us. We had to try to cook the food fast!

As Martin said, “it is so cool to meet someone from hometown during travelling!”. We had lots of fun chatting with Martin and his girlfriend tonight!
