  • Stockholm

    September 19, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Arrived to a tiny airport Vastera at 12pm Swedish time, so 6am in Ontario and 3am in BC got right on the bus to stockholm city. Its a 1.5 hour bus ride cost 20 bucks each and free wifi. Not bad. So far the landscape is vastly different than Iceland, sort of reminds me of northern ontario , except with different trees.Arrived at the hotel easy check, super cute room. We are ready to head out and explore, that 45 minute of deep drooling sleep on the plane did wondersRead more

    September 20, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Well we passed out at 930 and it was a fight to stay awake. We roamed along the water and around the neighbourhood our hotel is in. We are a bit south of the central tourist area, but only a 30 minute walk. Got a few groceries and snacks for the room and was suprised with how cheap it was, however I took mom out for dinner last night and she was so hungry we went to whatever was close and it wasnt good and it was pricey. Getting ready to head out now ,just popped in for our hotels breakfast which is perfect, fruit breads cheeses, soft boiled eggs yogurt etc. Will be a good start every morningRead more

  • Gamla stan

    September 20, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Ok, we love Stockholm. The city is gorgeous people are friendly but not intrusive and its easy to walk everywhere. After breakfast we started our trek to Gamla Stan. We are two islands south of Gamla Stan and it took about 45 mins to get there. The entire walk we passedadorable shops and cafes with outdoor seating that provide pillows and blankets. Mom fell in love with each one. We passed a trendier neighbourhood with lots of clothing shops... We popped into a few.. And promptly got escorted out for looking like bums. Mom saw a big bird... Adding this becasuse there will be a picture. The amount of bikers here is amazing; almost no cars. Can easily cross main streets because there will be so few cars, however we both almost got run over by the bikers during rush hours. Typically they have their own roads , but sometimes you have to cross their path... Remember to look both ways!Read more

  • Gamla Stan pt 2

    September 20, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

First thing we did of course is pop into every store. First one we found was a delightful lighting and decor shop, and a really cool antique store. From there we wandered in awe through the tiny streets and marvelled at the beautiful architechture. It was interesting there were tons of locals, dads with babies, moms and strollers etc; didnt seem overly packed with tourists.Read more

  • Stockholm Palace

    September 20, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Right in the center of Stockholm is the Royal Palace. The royal family still resides there however they are open for tours. Not the entire castle but the residence, dining room and Royal Treasury are open. No photos are allowed in the Treasury; Im assuming to stop people like mom from planning a jewel heist. Very cool though. Lots of pics but will narrow it down.. Or try too. The robe is the bishops robe and jewelsRead more

  • Medieval Museum

    September 20, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Found a free museum of Medieval Stockholm. During a dig to make a parking lot under the parliament building they discovered remains of Old Stockholm including buildings, boats and human remains. Mom loved this and told me she wanted to be an archeologist... Move over Indiana Jones, Dodi is on her way.Read more

  • Chaos in Stockholm

    September 21, 2016 in Sweden ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

Extra extra read all about it, Dodi and Lauren make scenes in Stockholm. It began by Mom dropping a full cup of coffee in the lobby onto the Marble floor smashing her cup. Proceeded by Lauren herding us onto the wrong ferry. Realizing my error we jumped off at another dock as the ferry we needed passed us by. Obviously being clueless the ferry driver got off with us at the dock and said not to worry he called the other ferry to come back and pick us up... Way to not make a scene Lauren. Everyone was actually very nice and they are small boats so it wasnt a big deal. You have to flip a sign down to notify the ferry to pick you up. So we then arrive where we wanted to go and mom needed her 10th bathroom break of the morning, searching for a spot we ended up in a childrens play area.. Didnt look weird at all being the only people without kids... A morning a bit chaotic but full of laughs off to the Vasa and Abba museumsRead more

  • Copenhagen Canal Tour

    September 25, 2016 in Denmark ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

Since we had limited time in Copenhagen we figured a canal tour would let us see the sites without having to book our butts from side of the city to the other to see a statue. It was about 1.5 hours and totally worth it.Read more
