Disaster strikes

And I'm not talking about the 5 pounds we gained over Christmas.

I was driving and did not notice the lack of concrete just outside the gas station as I was pulling out onto the road. Not only was there no concrete, there was no dirt, perhaps not even any air. I am sure that the hole went all the way down to China. Anyway, the first hint of any problem was a terrible noise followed by the car jerking to almost a complete stop and then leaping forward.

We pulled into the MacDonald's parking lot to get our coffee and to see what the problem was. Near as I can reconstruct the trailer wheel went into the ungodly deep hole, with the entire trailer attempting to follow. The only thing that kept the trailer from disappearing as the wheel took it's terrifying plunge was the steps which hit the concrete in front of the hole. As the steps were bent back, well on their way to being ripped off, the wheel hit the edge of the hole, momentarily stopping the car before leaping out of the hole, but not before bending the wheel rim beyond redemption.Read more
