The Suite Life

Flying back to Tokyo, I was a bit relieved to be done with hotel hopping for the rest of the trip. I love seeing new places and moving around, but to this point I had stayed in 24 different locations! I flew into Narita, snagged a new IC Card (mine expired), and took the local train to Shinjuku to retrieve my stored suitcase. Lo and behold, the 5th floor of a tiny building to the right of an Izakaya in a random side alley was actually a safe place to store my luggage! I then headed to my final, 25th stay of the trip. The hotel was in Akasaka, which was recommended by my Japan counterparts for being a good location for the work portion. The hotel was only a few blocks from the imperial palace, and was next door so the several japanese government buildings (house of reps, diet building, etc). Although a bit gaudy with the decor (see peacock statue in the entrance), it was a very comfortable hotel with a top floor onsen and was across the street from a shrine. Just look at the view from my window! Ready to hunker down for the next two weeks, I plopped my bags down in my tiny room, and slept soundly knowing I wouldn't need to move them again until I came home.もっと詳しく
