I had an amazing experience and learned so much from the Exhibition opportunity. It was a tiring 4 full days though and I was ready for a Sunday where I didn't really have to think. I wanted to turn off my brain and enjoy the day. So I went to Tokyo Disneyland! I hadn't seen their version yet, and I won't be going to a US park anytime soon with how absurdly expensive they've gotten. It was full Halloween season, as evidenced by the droves of passionate fans wearing costly cosplay outfits ranging from Donald Duck to Zootopia to Kingdom Hearts. It was hard to distinguish guest from actor!
The park was done up for Halloween and the theming was really fun. Haunted Mansion got a full makeover for Nightmare Before Christmas, which essentially made it a new ride. For almost all of the classics, the fun twist for me was that most had translated versions of songs. It's bizarre to hear a Japanese version of "Zippidy Doo Dah". The rides were all quite fun (even if the place was packed on a weekend) and my dinner at the Blue Bayou restaurant inside Pirates of the Carribean was delicious. Definitely made for a fun day, and in particular one that I could mostly just shut off my brain and flow with the crowd. As we would say working at Disney World, "everyone checks their brains at the turnstiles."
