    Getting our bearings

    April 29 in Greece ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Our arrival in Athens was surprisingly chilly (14 degrees) with howling winds. Not the Greece I had envisaged when I packed an array of summer dresses, shorts and tops.
Yesterday was spent walking the streets around Syntagma square and the Plaka area - over 12km by the time we staggered home.
We are staying in a district called Exarchia which is described as edgy and home to anarchists (there is a large contingent of riot police on our street 24/7). It is also known for its street art and graffiti which covers every available wall.
This afternoon we are off to explore the Acropolis, our first and no doubt not the last archaeological site we will visit on this trip.
