Stemnitsa

As foreshadowed in the previous post, we didn't think the local winding roads could get worse. Because the main route to Stemnitsa was closed due to a land slide, bloody Google maps directed us up through the mountains on some very scary roads. Nevertheless the scenery was stunning and we even came across a group of locals having a party in the middle of the road, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the day, mid week. After stopping at Dimitsana for lunch - a very cute village clinging to the side of a mountain but teeming with tourists, buses etc, we were relieved to arrive at less hectic Stemnitsa. Until google maps led us up some crazy winding narrow streets to our hotel ending at a flight of stairs which google said we should continue up and still 500 meters from the hotel. Fortunately our kindly host, took our car keys and drove our car to the hotel somehow.
Stemnitsa was a lovely village high in the mountains with great vistas into the valleys below.Leia mais
