  • Cooking with Nonna

    July 9, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

This has been my favourite experience so far!

We were taken out to a small village to learn some history and then went to Nonna's house to learn how to make 3 different types of pasta from scratch.
There were two Nonna's who didn't speak a word of English except "again again" wanting you to drink more and eat more. I feel like I was a natural not gonna lie 👵👵🍝

  • Vatican city

    July 10, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Today we woke at the crack of dawn to head towards Vatican city. The like was massive, people had already been waiting 2 hours before it even opened! Turns out I accidently bought "skip the line" tickets so it didn't matter for us 🎉🎉

I won't lie to you, pretty underwhelming! Essentially just a museum of things that each pope has collected over the years...I've seen better 😳 saw a mummy though!

    July 11, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

This this was a straight up spectacle 👓 I could have spent all day wondering through and reading things. These guys were out the gate! Work ethic, unmatched. Couldn't do it, I wouldn't survive

  • Florence

    July 11, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

    Made it to Florence 🇮🇹
Beautiful city, so many fookin tourists. Like if they could all leave me to it then I'd be happy as Larry. Also, best Gelato I've had so far.
Also, didn't realize that Pinocchio from Italien... so many dedicated shops here.

    The statutes here are narly

  • Cinque Terre

    July 12, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

This was a highlight. One day was not enough to give full value to the 5 villages of Cinque Terre.

The ocean is not quite a NZ ocean but it was also so the warmest water ive swum in 🌊

  • Travel day - I hate buses

    July 13, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Final day in Florence followed by the WORST day of travel in my travel history. Lemme set the scene and continue to tell the full story.

    - Started off with some rav - not as good as the stuff I made from scratch, say no more.
    - Headed off to the train station to store our luggage before another day of playing tourist. Train station was a mess, they decide to do a nationwide strike the day before the ACTUAL strike day 🙄🙄 trains are down station closes.
    - Spent £70 ($140nzd) to store out luggage somewhere bc out new overnight/9 bus didn't leave until 11pm that night!
    - Said bus didn't arrive until 00:30 = late = not surprised.
    - 2 hours into the trip the bus literally pulls into a parking lot and sits for an hour with no explanation. Slowly, the whispers reached my seat and turns out the bus is broken and they're not sending a replacement... so here we are...middle of nowhere...with no ride.
    - Anyways, booked another bus pending arrival at 3:20 so allgood.
    - Bus doesn't arrive until 4:40. Then followed the wildest ride of my life, old mate thought he was in Tokyo drift or something!
    - Finally arrived at our stop and the freakin connecting bus left 10 BLOODY minutes EARLY!!! So naturally we missed it.

Anyways, pic of me sleeping on the airport floor feeling sorry for myself! Bring on Berlin

  • Berlin bike tour

    July 15, 2023 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

First full day in Berlin we did a bike tour of all the main sites.

Andy, our tour guide, was full of knowledge and passion and made it so easy to follow along with the history of Berlin.

Shocking to think about all the things shared!!

So many parks in Berlin, majorly utilized. Kept beautiful and clean!

    July 17, 2023 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

  • Amsterdam

    July 17, 2023 in the Netherlands ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

    Final destination! Amsterdam.

I am feeling super duper tired and ready for a week long sleep but also have fomo so the show must go on!

This place is wild, you have to stop and look the right way for "clear" in the bike lane, then the car lane, then the tram lane, then the other tram, the other car lane and the other bike lane! So many dangers haha.

A bit colder here, more like home in summer ☀️ a comfort 25°c

  • Van gogh museum

    July 18, 2023 in the Netherlands ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Van gogh, the man had some issues which in turn created some great artwork! Pretty intense museum really. Glad I went.

Because he killed himself he wasn't able to be buried or whatever so that info had to be crossed off the death certificate...seems legit

We also did Anne Frank today. We couldn't take any photos but she had it pretty rough too!
