• Day 9

    Nantes - vibrant and multicultural

    April 30 in France ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We drove our rental car from Saint Malo to Nantes, about a 2 and a half hour trip.

We’d planned an overnight stay in Nantes to break our trip and return the hire car.

One interesting thing I saw at a roadside rest area was a map of the local area that had a kangaroo 🦘 symbol on it. I assume it signifies a kangaroo enclosure. It was nice to see a sign from home.

Once we returned the car, it was time to do a small test run with our packs on and walk a couple of kms to our accomodation. We all did OK!

We had a small hiccup with the accomodation we had booked. It turned out to be share house!! We took one look and decided to re-book another place. The positive side to our hiccup was there was a lovely oyster bar near the original accomodation, where we spent some time relaxing having espresso and drinks. I found a scallop shell sitting around the bar, a sign for the Camino and an affirmation we are on the right path!!

We spent the rest of the day eating and wandering around.

There were A LOT of locals out for the night, eating and drinking. It was a really good vibe.

Tomorrow, we catch a train to Bordeaux. 🍷
