We moored in Guajará Bay and tendered in to Icoaraci Pier. From there we took a shuttle bus ~55 min to Belém. Belém is the capital of the state of Pará in Brazil.
We visited Mercado Ver-O-Peso which translates to 'Check the Weight Market'; named from colonial times when Portuguese officials weighed goods to levy taxes.
We walked along the waterfront to Forte do Presépio (Fort of the Nativity): a Portuguese military fortification built in 1616.
We wandered through a few streets in search of Mangal das Garças (trans: Mangrove of the Herons): a sort of botanic gardens of Belém. Lots to see there.Læs mere
