Today was busy and productive. Everything fell into place and ran smoothly though I felt the time pressure. I still can barely believe I'm at the airport again less than 2 weeks from arriving.

Okie dokes just experienced my 1st definite racism here. At the local restaurant now with the group I'm travelling with and we all ordered drinks. The server was trying to convince a white lady in the group to buy a beer but she wanted just a pineapple juice. I ordered a Lion beer though same as three of the guys. When the drinks came the server gave all the boys their beer and then walked away. One of the guys said she ordered a beer and pointed to me and the server went to the white woman again and gave her the beer. I stated that I ordered the beer as well and the white woman also said I ordered the beer and they left the beer with the white woman and walked off. I'm happy I'm on the tour so I can be with a group to minimise the different treatment. Its super annoying so I've refused to purchase food here. I've watched everyone eat and I'll eat at the hotel.Read more

Went to a working tea factory to learn about the process of making tea and the various grading then afterwards a gemstones shop and a wood sculpture shop.

Did the scenic train ride from Kandy towards Ella. I decided to go for it and hang out of the train as it's probably something I'd only try once. A bit scary but a good experience

Arrived in Bandarawela after a long train ride. Tonight we semi participated in a cooking demonstration. These curries were some of the freshest and tastiest of the trip. Interesting curries like cucumber or mango curry.Read more

We're staying overnight on a campsite. It's basic but cute. There are lots of dogs and one cute kitty.

Village walk

Did a walk through the nearby village. We started with a walk through stagnant water which was unpleasant. The rest of the walk was lovely. Learnt about different plants, trees and animals.
