  • Pine Creek

    August 4, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

A quick stop in Pine Creek en route to Kakadu. Olivia had fun playing on the old train tracks 🛤

  • Bukbukluk Lookout

    August 4, 2023 in Australia

Our first real view of the Southern end of Kakadu, was not what we were expecting!

This part of the NP is majority woodland which surprised us both. A great little view into what was to come!

  • Mardukal Campground

    August 4, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 32 °C

2 nights at Mardukal by the river. Beautiful peaceful spot, we had a resident kookaburra stop by to say hi!

A 1km return walk along the marsh kept us on our croc toes!

  • Jim Jim Falls

    August 5, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    WOW!

A 2km return grade 5 difficult walk... and we all did it! Olivia was a champion, she walked and boulder hopped her way to "the beach" and was rewarded with a chilly dip.

This would have been spectacular with water flowing but was awe-inspiring none the less. Those towering cliffs!!!! This is one place to come back and see in wet season!

With a little help from mum on the way 'back' we returned to Mabel tired but feeling rewarded. All until Oli woke the next day unwell (I think the heat of the past few days and a big walk got to her).

  • Anbangbang Billabong Lunch Spot

    August 6, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 32 °C

Today Olivia hasn't been feeling well, we thought a little drive and lunch with a view before seeing some Aboriginal rock paintings.

This billabong would certainly be spectacular in wet season!

  • Nourlangie Rock Art

    August 6, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

A flying visit to what was some special and amazing rock paintings before Oli had had enough (and was sick all through the car just after 🤢😫)

  • Maguk Waterfall

    August 7, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

With sadness it was only Dad who got to visit the MOST beautiful waterfall and swimming spot in Kakadu.

Olivia was still very sick after being up most of the night vomiting. Luckily we had moved to Cooinda Lodge CP the day before so we had AC to get us through and to keep her temp of 40 at bay (while we all slept in the one bed)Read more

  • Yellow Water Billabong Sunset Cruise

    August 7, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

WOW! We are so glad we took the opportunity to do the sunset billabong cruise - and we had the perfect afternoon with the sun shining and only a few clouds on the horizon.

So many animal sightings, buffalos and whistling ducks were Olis favourite, the crocs were dads and the sea eagles were mums favourites.

So many more stunning photos of this cruise.

  • Cahills Crossing

    August 8, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

There unfortunately wasn't too much croc barra hunting on the river, but it was cool to see how much tidal movement the East Alligator River receives daily.

  • Ubirr Rock Art

    August 8, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Ubirr has some of the oldest rock art in Australia, with some pieces dated as 5,000 years old!

The Ubirr site is famous for some of the best preserved art in Australia also.

  • Nawurlandja Lookout

    August 9, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Mum got the opportunity to climb up the rocks to get a fantastic almost 360 view over Central Kakadu. With the whole place to herself she was able to enjoy some peace and quiet. Well worth the steep climb!Read more

  • Relaxing in Jabiru

  • Nadab Lookout @ Sunset

    August 9, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Wow, wow, wow! Another truly remarkable experience in Kakadu. And again we were so incredibly lucky with the weather!!!

You feel like you are ontop of the world, looking out over the Plains to the wilderness. The NT certainly doesn't lack in natural beauty. Incredible sunset spot.Read more

  • Jumping Crocodile River Cruise

    August 10, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

How great to be able to see these giant crocs up close and admire how well they can launch out of the water for food! You can understand why tour guides say don't dangle your arms over the side of the boat 🐊

Olivia loved seeing them so close but she was very happy there was glass between her and the crocodile too 🙂

  • WWII Oil Bunkers

    August 12, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

A really interesting piece of Darwins WWII history, the oil bunkers under the city that were kept secret until the 50th anniversary of the Darwin Bombings 💣

  • Berry Springs

    August 14, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

What a beautiful way to spend a couple of hours. Just an hour outside of Darwin city, you could be anywhere! Refreshing Springs (not too hot, not cold) where you can float down from the little waterfall down to a big pond and beyond.

    Magnificent!
