  • Sarria to Cass Cruceio Ferreiros

    26 maja, Hiszpania ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

7:45 am start, 13.5K uphill track.
For David & Steph it was an easy section, not so easy for me
But a real joy to be walking and talking with these two.
    The temperature now is 27⁰.

  • NARON to PALAS del REI

    27 maja, Hiszpania ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

    Hi Everyone
Apologies for not posting for a few days.
I've been exaustand moreso yesterday the walk was all uphill in 29°C felt like 30⁰C+ .
Temperature today reached a high of 24°C and I covered 14.5 Ks and Steph and David 19Ks with their extended walk out to the 12th century Catholic church.. we arrived at our destination at 12 pm-ish at Palas de Rei. Photos will show a beautiful misty morning with soft images of pine trees. Reminded me of Canada
Along the way I enjoyed good pilgrim conversations with Aussies, Americans, a couple from Argentina and more.
The best Tattoo I've seen was on and Australian ladies ankle. It featured BANKSY's girl with the Red Balloon drifting away. The writing says "There's always hope"
And the best T-shirt read  "I'm a Canadian,"
    "Until the next election"
Steph and David added on a 4 K detour to inspect a 12th century Catholic church "Vilar de Donas" and to their good fortune, the local priest arrived and gave the a private tour.
    Steph was thrilled.
David was too and unexpectedly took photos.
David and Steph agreed it is a "not to be missed" on the Camino Frances.
Note: the date stamp above says 27 May. It's actually the 29th 🥰

    Tomorrow we head for Melide

  • ARZÚA to PEDROUZO

    30 maja, Hiszpania ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

    Hi ALL
Well again I'm a few days behind in my FP postings and there is only 1 day before we arrive at SdC.
Basically our Camino kilometers have gone smoothly... Not too smoothly because Brucie got a big knee problem yesterday and took a taxi for for 4 km to catch up with Steph and David in Azrun.
24 hours later the knee is good.
Thank heavens because tomorrow I'll walk the last leg into Santiago de Compostela.
The previous 2 days our weather was 24⁰C max.
You know this part of the Camino Francis is busy. Largely the pilgrims are in good spirits. Easy to talk and share their experiences with smiles, chuckles and wisdom.
Finally, I have a number and photographs to share, particularly one from meeting. Jenny Abraham at the bus stop this morning. How Camino Special.Yes lucky Brucee.

I'll add comments to each photo. Bless you all and thank you for following me. Yours in the Camino, rubber legs Brucie

  • Santiago de Compostela

    2 czerwca, Hiszpania ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

We have just completed our Camino Frances.
It is my 6th time and always it has wonderful new and passed memories.
Personally arriving In the Praza do Obradoiro (the huge square in front of the Cathedral) But arriving here with Steph and David must be one of the best times of Camino experiences.
I couldn't help myself and I went and saw the manager of the nearby Liberoton Hostal. to enjoyed a friendly chat. Also unexpectedly, was the Australian couple. Michelle and Mark. We only met once way back in Bayonne France. Michelle and Mark took the train down to Saint Jean Pied de Port , I took the bus down to SJPdP.. Michelle recognize me which delighted me because it's it's nearly 6 weeks since we roughly met. That's another example why I keep coming back and back to the Caminos in Spain.
Tomorrow Seville for a few days and then onward home for Brucie, while David and Steph explore more Southern Spain highlights.
Thankfully, I've got a few photographs, including the stamps of my favorite 3 favourite Albergues which are "must" overnights for me.
PS this is my last Camino Frances post. However, I will post once or twice of my time with David and Steph from Seville and nearby historic towns.
See you back In the Blue Mountains and Sydney.

  • Málaga

    8 czerwca, Hiszpania ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

    Hi ALL

A quick post from beautiful coastal Málaga, SPAIN
In the The past week we have been enjoying the historic wonders of Cadiz and Seville then touring our way South east.
David & Steph researched and we've enjoyed the following locations:
Zahara de le Sierra, Ronda, Antequera, El Torcal (David & Steph walke ind, and saw a mountain goat .... see picture), and Malaga.
Tomorrow Bruce to Travels to Madrid. I fly home arriving late 12 June.
    F
For those who travel to Spain for the Northern Spain Caminos, I wish to tell you that this southern part has been an eye opener historically and culturally. I've repeatedly said thank you D&S for selecting such sites. Also I should admit I find the daytime temperatures of 30⁰ + exhausting BUT not their social party time of 8 pm plus. WoW.
Yesterday in Antequera I visited the Antequera Museum/Exhibition the 3rd floor blew me away with an exhibition by the artist name of CRISTOBAL TORAL an internationally awarded artist.
Some of his paintings were huge, The one continuing feature in every one of these was unexpectedly. "Suitcases".

Cristobal explains " In general we in general, are nomad travelers, filling, airports etc. with suitcases, and icon of our time."
For me that says Brucee have you booked your next adventure yet?
    🥰
