CHARLES NELSONour airbnb hosts took a liking to us , and drove us two hours down to this old greek town , then to their grandfathers ancestral home, then to a wonderful lunch taverna , which served two kinds of 'grass' , wine chicken and sheep livers. all delish.....the temp is in the teens at night inland . looking forward to Thailand!

CHARLES NELSONSince Keith went ballistic, for good reason, I decided the world IS going down the tubes. Then I spoke with the Hungarian airbnb hostess and got a clue. They have the same kind of authoritarian politicians as HIM , and these people masquerade as socialists, but act like Fascists. For example the current president who fenced the border against immigration . The hostess is against the fencing. She is well educated, A graphic artist. She arranged part of the local Museum of Applied Arts. Will visit it tomorrow to check out her arranging abilities. Never really gave much thought to the layout of museums . Heady stuff.

CHARLES NELSONKeith you would have detested yesterday. 6 hours of hiking on the roughest trails I have ever seen. Clambering down 3600 vertical feet , sometimes hanging off of chains with zero footholds. The most lackluster trail maintenance In Europe so far. But the scenery almost made the physical danger worthwhile. Enjoyed your Barcelona pictures.

CHARLES NELSONI see, your security level is set so high that you can't answer. To fit in to Lisbon, you must become accustomed to eating sardines and drinking shakes made of them. And work on liking bacalao. We are from a Portuguese part of the USA, SE Massachusetts. So we have lots of friends , since childhood, from that region, and we feel comfortable in Portugal. Seriously, maybe you should head out to the country where people are more friendly, or more soused. As you say, cities seem the same anywhere..
