Travelled to a new camp for 1 night tonight, looks like rain again, this morning was fun packing the tent away!! Loads of Columbus monkeys and baboons although no pics yet as have been for a walk with tourmates and seen tea plantations, altho the men didn't want us to walk there! And also so many banana trees, coffee plants and a walk twice through a local village up and down hills, they are all so fit to keep doing that every day! XxxRead more

  • Day 18. Thurs march 13. Chimp trek

    March 13, 2025 in Uganda ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Today I went for a chimpanzee trek in Kalinzu forest with my tour mates Sophie viggo and Lewis.
It was very hard work and slippery and I nearly fell quite a few times from tree branches and slippery rocks over streams but ..we saw some chimps and it was great!!! Then we had a long truck journey to Kisoro and wow the scenery across Uganda was magnificent, sooo many people up hills in the fields digging their crops and simply living so high. The smell of onions as we went past markets they were all layed out on the floor or in bags for sale.
I didn't realise Uganda cultivated tea and onions.
Anyway we are now in a lodge for 2 nights and I have a room to myself and WiFi and I've sent my washing to be done as I've had enough of doing it in a bowl 🤣.
Tmw we hike for the mountain gorillas, I'm soooo excited but also nervous of the hike eeekk I hope they come out to play xxx

  • Tour Day 19. Gorilla trek ❤️❤️❤️

    March 14, 2025 in Uganda ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!! Today we trekked the gorillas it was amazing, dangerous and perilous climb up and down over slippery rocks and logs, across streams, through thick forest but I'm on such a high I don't think anything will ever top it.
I had a lovely porter called Agnes who helped pull me up and save me from falling many a time, not sure could have done it without her and a walking pole (so glad I bought some).
It was quite a trek to find our group as there were a few groups and different routes.
But once we found them we followed them for an hour which they are very strict about and we had to wear a mask the whole time.
We were so so close to them and 1 even walked past me and touched me it was epic!! They were so gorgeous I still can't believe it, and as an as we saw them I was so emotional, it's something I've wanted for a long time. I still keep getting emotional thinking about it all.
    JUST WOW!! XXX
(lots of pics will prob have to do a 2nd post and will only allow 2 videos per post!)

  • Day 22. Last day of tour 😭 xxx

    March 17, 2025 in Rwanda ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

This morning we went to the genocide museum and we were all in tears, how do humans do such things to each other??!
But now I have arrived at Villa Asimba for the night, it's rather lush. Sitting in the sun before I meet my tour mates for a last dinner before leaving Africa tmw.
    😭 xxx
