Day -1

Randon pics while roaming around London over the weekend
Day 1 - Have wheels, will travel

Don't ask what the weight of this rig is. I can say, its VERY heavy !! Takes some skill to control the beast. Leaving London in rush hour was better than I expected
Andover - Hampshire

Route from London was past Heathrow, then onwards into the country. Pushed further than planned. Weather was good, "make hay when the sun shines" as these okes would say.

Roadkill: Crow
Shaftesbury

Brunch stop with a difference
Exeter - United Kingdom

I think today was around 120km. Time for laundry, then a cold beer.
Dartmoor National Park

Much quieter roads today. Only one problem, when planning a route, what you can't see is the profile. Had a serious work out today. Was topped off by rain and headwinds the last 3 hours.
Plymouth - UK

No cycling today. Relaxed in Plymouth and a short ferry ride over to Cornwall
Roscoff - FR

All ready for the next leg. Shops are mostly closed in France on Sundays so went shopping for some provisions to see me through 2mrw.
Gouarec - FR

So today was challenging with my Garmin failing on me. Have backup paper maps for now. Nonetheless found a campsite and settled in for the evening. Coluldn't take to many pics with all the rain.
Malestroit - FR

For once no rain. Used the bike as a mobile washing line to dry some kit. Garmin behaved so all good.
Nantes - FR

Bit of R&R and sight seeing in the town today. Looking back, I've covered 380km since arriving in France, all of my route thus far has been following the Brest - Nantes canal. Building started in 1811Okumaya devam et
Noirmoutier - FR

Another big 150km. First view of the Atlantic ocean. No more canals to follow, more like marsh land and pine forest. Crossed the causeway (Passage du Gois) to the island of Noirmoutier which you canOkumaya devam et
Les Sables - FR

Took it easy today. Garmin again playing up :(
Got to camp early, washed the bike, took a stroll on the beach, chilled by the pool
La Rochelle - FR

Seems to storm in these parts like clockwork at 4pm (like the Highveld used to). Have to drink very slowly with the price of beer in these parts ! The price one pays to take shelter out of the rain.
Rochefort - FR

Started off late today being unsure what to do as rain was threatening, and wind was up. As it turned it it was an easy 40km Sunday ride, assisted by a tail wind.
Soulec-ser-Mer - FR

Another very WET day of cycling, and another lesson learnt. So it's a public holiday here in France, and there is NOTHING open (much the same on Sunday's). Going to have to restock with provisions inOkumaya devam et
Andernos-les-Bains - FR

By my reckoning now 1300 km covered !!
Had to change my brake pads before starting this morning. Great to be able to stop my beast now with the new pads !
Contis-sud - FR

Initial plan was to spend two nights here and take a break. Not much here so will push on tomorrow and see what lies ahead.
Biarritz - FR

Finally summer has arrived in southern France !! Came across a seaside village early in the ride where the dunes are engulfing the dwellings. Must be some serious winds here to move all that sand.
Biarritz - FR

All good things must end, new terrain awaits. Tomorrow break up camp and continue south. Just a short hop tomorrow. Gave the beast a wash and a maintenance check. All ready !
Hendaye - FR

Last day in France, tomorrow heading onwards into Spain. The beaches here were pretty crowded today. People though only get going after miday.
San Sebastian - ES

Having just mastered the French language, now I have to start all over again with Basque. Compared to France, there are zero cycle paths here. Also finding it difficult to find routes that stay offOkumaya devam et
San Sebastian - ES

Exploring San Sebastian and surrounds
Mutriku - ES

Another sweltering day from sunrise to sunset (21:20). After two nights in a hostel dormitory, the campsite tonight is going to seem quite peaceful. Not a bad view either :)
Simon KnuppelVery cool pictures Pat. One day, when I'm Big :-)
